Do you need to be living a life of purpose? Of course you do. When everything in the universe works as a function of action and reaction, you certainly need to know how you can contribute to the greater scheme of things. No matter how unimportant it may seem now, living a life of purpose may just be what you need to find your true potential and live happily as a human being. Here are some simple tips to start with:

Define what your purpose it. As with most things, the beginning is always the most difficult and challenging to face. In fact, the very act of defining what your life purpose is may take time. Thriving industries have been built on just this dilemma. It would be easier for you to ask yourself what you find to be the most important things in your life, what you enjoy doing best and what you will regret most if you lost.

Commit yourself to living your purpose. Once you know what your purpose is, make a vow to live your life with your purpose in mind. You will find that it takes effort but once you've begun, things will flow much more freely and smoothly. When you're used to living a life of purpose, it will come as second nature to you. Once it becomes an integral part of your life, you probably won't even feel conscious about doing it but will still enjoy its benefits.

Bring passion to what you do. You should have no room for complacency if you want to live a life of purpose. When you have a reason or a goal, you have no excuse to sit around waiting for life to happen. When you're living a life of purpose, you have focus and passion in everything that you do, knowing that each act you perform brings you one step closer to your goal.

Accept what you can't change. You, like everyone else, still live in a finite universe and there will be certain things in life that you won't be able to change no matter what you do. Don't fret about this and more importantly, don't waste time hanging around to see if and when it will turn in your favor - it might, or it might not. You're better off doing other things that are more purposeful and meaningful.

Have faith you will succeed. Living a life of purpose does not guarantee that everything you do will turn out right. There are certain factors that may not contribute to a successful result in your life. However, keep a strong faith about your abilities and in yourself. If things don't go the way you want or expect them to, accept them, learn from your mistakes and then move on to the next adventure.

Start small and simple. A life purpose doesn't have to be a spectacular event such as single-handedly achieving world peace or turning everyone vegetarian. Find what you truly want in life and live it, one day at a time.

  • Send God A Text! (Michael A. Verdicchio)
Each day we are in communication with other people, why not with God? Phone calls, emails, instant messages, texts, why not send God a text or two, or three, during the day? We tell people throughout the day what we are thinking about or planning, why not tell God too?

  • Dinesh D'souza, the New Atheism, and Constantinian Christianity (Aaron Taylor)
Last week at the Innovative Evangelism Conference I got a chance to hear Dinesh D'Souza speak to a standing room only crowd. Dinesh D'Souza is a renowned Christian apologist known for taking on the proponents of the New Atheism (people like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens). He's also one of America's most influential conservative thinkers.

  • Saint Frances Cabrini and Louisiani (Bob and Penny Lord)
Mother Cabrini loved the people of Louisiana. She could not be intimidated by anyone. Her time in New Orleans was proof positive of that. She was asked to work with the Bishop of New Orleans, to rid the state of the tremendous discrimination against the Italians there.

  • Pay The Piper (Phillip Ross)
In spite of that rightful claim upon the Corinthian purse, Paul did not request or receive any such care. Why not? Because he did not want to give the impression that his ministry was motivated by monetary concerns. He did not want to be perceived as a hired gun that had come in to clean up the Corinthian church. He did not want to put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.

  • Freedom's Limits (Phillip Ross)
Against the tide of unrestrained freedom, Paul argued for caution and restraint. Here and elsewhere Paul argued that freedom in Christ did not mean that Christians were free to do whatever they wanted to do, even if there was nothing ultimately wrong with some particular action. But rather, Christians were free in Christ to live in obedience to Christ, free to care for and model behavior suited to the least discerning of Christ's people.

  • Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and four years of suffering (Bob and Penny Lord)
Elizabeth's spiritual director began a program of stripping Elizabeth of all that she had known, material possessions which had never been considered luxurious by her or her family.
