Sitting all buckled up, shaking in your shoes and sweating profusely? Well you will be surprised to know there are many men like you who are suffering the same fate as you. Yes, flying phobia is one of the most common fears that ail men. Caused often due to initial bad experiences while flying, such as turbulent flying, bad landing or take offs, can leave one scared of flying. But this anxiety over flying can easily be got over if only a little will power is exerted.

1.The first step to getting rid of this flying fear is to accept that the chances of meeting with an accident in the air is as high as on the ground and that you need help to get over your fear, otherwise it will only grow worse. And since these days flying is essential in every man's life especially when it's for work, having flying fear will only leave you in the lurch.

2. After the first phase of accepting that what you have is an irrational fear of flying and that you need help, the next step is to go out there and seek professional help in the form of a psychologist's counselling session. These sessions are commonly available and extremely effective. So look for a good therapist who can help you out with your problem. To is OK to talk about having a fear. They will have heard about it before.

3. There are also millions of effective self-help books, which write about techniques to be used while trying to eradicate this flying phobia. So step three would be to avail the help of these books and learn about breathing techniques, and other methods to relax while flying. Check out your local library or bookstore.

4.Take a flight in a virtual simulator. The sensation of flight may actually help you to realize that the fear can be easily overcome. Then again, if you still have intense anxiety in the flight that remains safely on the ground in a stationary position, then you might find that the fear is deep rooted in something other than any actual danger.

5. Phone up the airline. You would be amazed at how much help and advise they will give you about flying and how safe it is. They will help you throughout the whole of your journey if you ask them.

6. You could also purchase an audiotape or CD, which would help you throughout the flight by guiding you through well researched breathing and relaxation methods on the flight, therefore keeping you distracted as well as calm and under control.

7. Finally know that you can get over your fear and have faith in yourself to do what is necessary to get over your fear. Remember your mind is the key to everything, so if you convince yourself that you can overcome your fear then you can do it.

So go ahead and try any of these methods and fly without fear or trauma. Remember that accidents can happen anywhere, air, land and water. So there is no reason for you to feel that you are going to meet with an accident just because you are flying miles high. So on your next flying trip be confident and have a great time. Oh! And don't forget to enjoy the view.
