The dreaded "love handles". You know what I mean, pinch more then an inch, muffin top, call it what you will. They are there and they are annoying. Do you want to learn how to get a flat stomach? Then read on.

There are two areas of fat that cause those love handles. The first is subcutaneous fat. A layer of fat below the skin and between your six pack abs and your skin.

The second type of fat that you have in your mid section area is called visceral fat. This is a layer that lies under the muscle tissue and surrounds your organs. This layer of fat tends to creep in as we get older but it does not have to be permanent. Just because you cannot see your 6 pack abs, does not mean that they are not there. It is possible to re learn how to get a flat stomach.

A certain amount of body fat is necessary for survival, fat reserves, insulation and protection but lets face it, most of us have too much of both types, me included!. Both of these fat types can greatly increase your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases which are all things that you do not want. Too much body fat can even cause snoring.

Lowering your body fat not only helps lower your body weight but also makes your muscles more visible. Your muscles are there, if they weren't, none of us would be able to move! You just can't see them, yet.....

So, how do you go about learning how to get a flat stomach, losing those love handles and regaining your 6 pack abs without expensive supplements, ab belts, ab rockers and expensive home exercise equipment.

The easiest way to start is to increase your intake of water eat more foods with a high water content. Most people are capable of losing weight but not lowering their body body fat.

While its possible to lose body weight on some of the fad diets out there, you are not losing body fat. You mostly just lose water... not body fat . You're not getting healthier... You're just getting dangerously dehydrated! Foods with a high water content are GO GO foods, you can eat as much as you want and not gain weight or feel hungry. Here are some examples, fruit excluding bananas, vegetables such as celery, cucumber, leeks, spinach, peppers and crispy lettuce. All of these foods can help you to get a flat stomach.
