It's true that most people see the use of a New York limousine service as an extravagance reserved for the wealthy and famous. But whilst those perceptions continue, there are those who are finding out that there are times when using a limousine is a practical, cost effective method of transport.

I'm going to give you five such instances right now:

1: The Airport Run. How many of you absolutely dread the run to the airport? With the necessary increase in security, the parking, the hassle of dragging your luggage to the shuttle bus. And that's just to get you to the doors. You'll probably have to add an hour or so to your allotted journey time to cover all that, and we havn't even mentioned the stress!

It doesn't matter which terminal you want to go from. Take your family in style in a limo. Arrive fresh and non-stressed, and if you divide the cost between everyone, surprisingly inexpensive. Especially when taking into account the saving of your own fuel and parking.

2: Weddings. OK, it's common enough these days for the bride and groom to use a limousine, but how about the bridal party and out of town guests. Many of whom won't know their way around, and pretty much certainly won't want to use their own vehicle. Give them all a day to remember. Everyone gets where they need to be on time, no hassle.

Also, because you are usually booking quite a ways in advance (you havn't left it till the last minute have you?) Limousine services are often happy to negotiate a discount with you.

3: Tours. Who really wants to drive themselves on a tour of New York? That's just plain crazy. Who wants to take a cab with someone who doesn't know much more than you do, and doesn't really care. Not counting the fact that the cab is often grubby and would be cramped for more than three of you.

Limousine services can offer you a vehicle suited to your party. Together with a polite and knowledgeable driver who will be pleased to show you the sights, and even create an itinerary for you if you wish. A very relaxed and enjoyable way to see The Big Apple.

Some services will even provide refreshments on board, and have multilingual drivers. Now who wouldn't rather take in the sights like that?

4: Sporting Occasions. Think about this one. You and a bunch of friends want to go to the game. Who's going to drive? Who actually wants to? What about the hassle of driving to the event at a time when thousands of others are doing the same thing? Do you even want to think about the parking nightmare when you do eventually get there (probably having missed the start of the game).

We havn't mentioned the problem of driving home when you may have had a beer or two. No, the sensible thing is use a limo. It's fun, gets you there and back in style, and again, split between a few of you it's really very good value.

5: Business meetings. Now this is a pretty obvious one I have to say, but it's surprising that many business people will rely on a passing cab to get them to a "must be on time" meeting. If you cant get to the meeting on time do you really think you'll get the business?

If you are going to a business meeting or hosting one for out of town potential clients etc. It just has to make sense to use a limo. It looks good, gives a great impression. The drivers are discreet and know what the businessman needs. And, it's tax deductible. Got to make sense.

Well, there you go, that's just five potential occasions to use a limousine service. I bet you can think of a lot more now. You don't need to be a rock star. Try it next time you need to get somewhere in New York. You'll be hooked.
