Network marketing is a people business. Unlike affiliate marketing where you sell products online and get paid for your efforts, network marketing requires you to build an organization of people to help you be successful. Therefore you will find that the most successful network marketers are people who possess leadership qualities.

Although we could probably come up with a very large list, in this article we will take a look at what are the main leadership qualities required of you if you want to build a successful network marketing business.

1. First of all, you must be a person who walks the walk and not just talks the talk. The best MLM leaders are also the best at recruiting distributors, and retailing products. This makes sense because these are the two backbones of any network marketing business. For you to have credibility, you must be able to point to your own success before you ask somebody else to duplicate it.

2. The most successful network marketers have a tremendous ability to stay positive. Because you're dealing in an industry that has a high attrition rate, and a high rejection rate, you must be able to stay positive in all times. This is true not only in your personal recruiting, but when you are working with your downline.

3. Are you the type of person that people like to be around? This is a leadership quality that will go a long way in helping you build your business. When people like to be around you, they want to be a part of your business. You may never directly teach this trait, but people will pick up on it and emulate that in their own business.

4. True leaders are visionaries. They can clearly see where their business is heading, and project that to their own downline. This can be harder to do than it sounds a specially when your business is not going as well as you want it to. That is where true leadership qualities come into play.

5. One last thing we want to mention when it comes to leadership qualities is to be understanding of people. This may mean that you are a compassionate person. You are able to see people not as they are, but as they someday may be, and you empathize with where they are today.

This is five leadership qualities that will be required of you to build a network marketing business. If you do not possess these now some day you will with an effort towards self improvement.
