I pray for a cancer cure and on occasion have made donations to institutions that are involved in cancer research.

I do this because some people have had their lives cut short by this deadly disease. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that someone you know has either had the disease or died from it.

For those that are living free from this disease at the moment, there is something you need to know. Right now, your body is already curing cancer. It is just for you to help it along my doing the right things.

You see, the body produces millions of new cells daily. Most of these cells divide and die at a certain rate. However, some cells have damaged DNA and they divide at a faster rate and don't die when they are suppose to.

These "cancer cells" are produced by the thousands daily, but your body, the great healer it is, eliminates them before they can do any harm.

For a healthy person, the body keeps a harmonious equilibrium between healthy cells and damaged cells. What happens to some people is that the unhealthy cells grow faster than the body can eliminate them.

The healthy balance is therefore disrupted. The unhealthy cells band together and form a mass we call a tumor, in other words cancer.

Whilst it is true that some people have a genetic predisposition to this disease, for the most part, it is a lifestyle or environmentally induced disease.

What that means is that it is within your power to exercise some cancer prevention tips that could potentially save you future distress and thousands in medicals bills.

Of course there are no guarantees that you'll never get the disease. All you can do is to follow these tips and pray that you never get it:

1. Eat a balanced diet. Cut out the junk, the sodas, the fatty foods, basically cut out processed foods. These foods all contain ingredients that encourage the growth of damaged cells. Instead eat organic if you can. Eat fruits, vegetables, grains and lean meat.

2. Cut out the chemicals. There are carcinogenic chemicals in your cosmetics and even in your drinking water. So think about the damage that your colognes, perfumes, soaps and body lotions are doing. Use natural cosmetics and drink filtered water instead.

3. Although it is not always possible but limit your exposure to radiation and pollution. Avoiding things like second hand smoke and cellphone radio. If you must use a cellphone, put it on speaker instead. 4. Take supplements that are rich in antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids. These will help to fight oxidation within the body and strengthen your immune system.

These cancer prevention tips may seem like little things but trust me, living a lifestyle counter to these practices over years and years, could have disastrous effects.
