Strengthening Your Own Immunity

Before we can discuss what things will boost your immune defenses, you first of all need to know some of those things which tend to weaken it. Right off the bat, I'd tell you up front and personal that any food loaded with sugar or grease is going to pack a wallop and knock your immune system silly. Right after that comes frequent and intense stress: too much pressure for very long and your immunity is going to get knocked to the canvas in a big hurry. After this comes prolonged exposure to a lot of electrical devices such as microwaves, TV sets and radios, fluorescent lighting, electrical shavers, blow dryers for the hair, cellular phones, personal computers, and so forth. The electromagnetic radiation they emit will deliver a one-two punch that will send your immune system into shock and unconsciousness. Breathing polluted air is another thing that's bound to "turn out the lights" on your immunity, if you're not careful. So, obviously common sense dictates that you should avoid sweet and fried/deep-fried foods as much as possible; learn to relax more; divest yourself of some electrical gadgets or don't stay around them too long; and get out in nature enough to breathe good, clean air

Another factor which 1 haven't discussed yet are bad thoughts and feelings. Negative emotions of any kind are like a ball-and chain around the body's immunity and can really drag it down in more ways than one. Try to be of a more cheerful countenance, have hope, and think pleasant thoughts in order to enable your system to resist disease for a longer period of time.

Now for some of the things that will boost your own immunity. Seeds of all types are definite power foods that can really give things a lift. There are a class of compounds in all seeds, including beans and grains, called protease inhibitors lapis). They limit the amount of nourishment that antigens can get. In other words, PIs help to literally "starve" these bad antigens out of existence. Munching on sunflower or pumpkin seeds, eating whole grain breads and cooked cereals, and dining on a variety of Legume dishes will boost your body's immunity more than you may realize.

There are, of course, certain nutrients that are quite useful in strengthening natural immunity. They are vitamins A and C and sulphur. Dark leafy green vegetables are rich in both vitamins as well as red- or orange-colored fruits and vegetables. Many of these same items can be juiced: parsley, celery, spinach, apples, carrots, and oranges. I always recommend using a Vita-Mix Total Nutrition Center, which is the only machine on the market that gives you all of the food fiber with nothing wasted (see Product Appendix). Or, for greater convenience, you might want to mix some of these concentrated juice powders with water and take them that way. Pines International See Product Appendix) makes a nice beet root juice blend and a 27-plant mixture called Mighty Greens

The sulphur connection is found in a number of different Brassica foods: cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower. Other sulphur-rich foods include garlic, onion, figs, and dehydrated fruits. Most of these can be consumed either raw or else Eighty cooked

Grapes and wines, preferably the dark red types, are equally good for boosting body immunity. They have been tested in different laboratories around the world and proven to be very potent against common, ordinary virus antigens like influenza and herpes simplex.

We should not forget, of course, those medicinal herbs that have been traditionally recognized for a long time now as possessing definite antibiotic properties to them. Some of the more potent ones are listed below and the forms in which they best work: red clover (2 cups daily), echinacea (tincture, 15 drops twice daily); goldenseal (2 capsules twice daily; garlic [4 capsules Kyolic daily); feverfew (4 capsules daily; and ginseng (2 cups tea daily).
