A life of black and white? Life will surely be boring without any colors. With vibrant colors, it brings joy and happiness to the things around you and can even make you feel inspired. The same with is true with brochures. Without color, it is hard for your materials to be effective. That is why commercial printing companies have continued to seek ways in maximizing the use of colors in their services.
Color brochure is an example of how colors can bring the best out of your prints. However to fully maximize the potential of colors, you must understand how they work and what factors to consider. To common folk, they often take full color prints for granted but in fact, there is more to full color printing than meets the eye. You will do well to have a firm grasp of these concepts to see other options that you can use with your full color brochure prints. Here are the things you need to consider:
First is Color Space that refers to the different ways of producing colors. Since we are talking about color brochure prints, you should at least be familiar with these two color spaces - RGB and CMYK.
RGB or Red, Green and Blue, is the color space used by monitors. They create other colors by using these three primary colors and combining them at varying degrees. On the other hand, CMYK which represents cyan, magenta, yellow and black are the four primary colors that printers use to create a number of different hues. This process works by mixing the different intensity levels of these inks on paper to create a different color. A combination of these colors can create a wide of colors for you to use in your prints.
As you can notice, the RGB color space only uses three colors while the CMYK color space uses four. Another difference is that the RGB color space emits light as opposed to the CMYK color space which absorbs light. Even if you save your files in the CMYK color space, your computer monitor displays your files in the RGB color space making it almost impossible to achieve 100 percent color accuracy. The best you can do is to ask for actual proofs before proceeding with your print orders to be safe than sorry.
Second is the Light and finish. Light works in different ways to affect the color of your prints such as it brings out how vivid your colors are - the more light that you absorb, the better quality your colors become. That is why an ideal paper stock is bright white so that it can reflect more light and bring the best out of your colors.
Third is the Paper Stock and Feel. The paper also plays a part in maintaining how vivid your colors become. The smoother the surface of the paper that you use, the better quality your colors become. This is because having a smooth and even surface will easily attract and reflect light. On the other hand, paper stocks that have rough fibers tend to refract light. With light bouncing off in all directions, the colors will look flat. As a general rule, remember that full color prints work best with smooth and glossy papers.
Thus, by considering all the key points in color brochure, you are assured of better marketability and patronage of your services and products. After all, a color brochure is affordable and it is a very versatile material that you can use in a number of ways.
