EDC Gold is a company that has many fans and many detractors. Those who laud it say that offers a real product and gives opportunities for success. The people who are against the program claim it is very close to being a pyramid, sustained mostly by the fees of people who join and pass their money up to the next level. The software included in each package, some say, is of low quality and may not operate correctly on your computer. The most troubling fact is that when people stop joining, whether it is because they believe it is not legitimate or because these days they simply do not have the money, it would be difficult for the program to stay operational. That sounds dangerously close to a pyramid collapsing.

So because this program is heavily dependent on recruiting, its chances of enduring a recession seem low. Now is not a great time to join, even if you are not worried about the ethical side of things. Critics point out that members of this program are far more concern with how to get people to signup for the program than they are in talking about the products they could resell.

A quick outline of the program is below:
- There 3 levels and corresponding software bundles that range from $69.95 to $997.
- It is a 2-up system for passing up sales.
- Website, training, and marketing tools are part of membership.
- A new product, Promo Black Box, is being sold for $495. This product is to help people develop websites.

Many businesses have the potential to fail during hard economic times. High-ticket programs may have a higher chance for failure, but any product that is not competitively priced will be hard to sell also. However, it can be argued that products that the same people buy over and over again may be better to sell in the long run, since you are not having to constantly hunt for as many new leads and can instead be selling to people who already know and like your product. EDG Gold has only come out with one new product to generate more sales, and still a person is only going to purchase it once.

What a company claims is possible in its marketing may not be what is likely to happen. When a company claims you can earn thousands of dollars in a week, it is probably wishful thinking on your part to take these claims seriously. In times of plenty, more people may be willing to take financial risks, but in the current economic climate, your sources of income are hopefully diverse enough for you to weather the storms.
