EDC Gold Diamond level members are promised more benefits like higher commissions, but they also may be risking more when they join. At this level, members are entitled to $1500 for each Diamond level membership they sell. But for this opportunity, you are paying steep $2495 price tag yourself, unless you reach diamond level by starting at a lower level. This alternative allows you to invest as little as $397 and work your way up to diamond level as you make sales. While the monthly fee is higher at this top level, you earn $50 a month for each person you sponsor. Additionally, you are entitled to a bonus of $500 when someone on your team makes a sale.

Besides the risk of that you will not earn enough to cover your investment to join, there are some drawbacks to the compensation plan. After joining and making your two training sales are likely to lose any help you were getting from your mentor because in the 2-up plan, after your first two sales there is no incentive for the mentor to continue sharing his or her time and expertise with you. In fact, that person has a reason not to help you—you are now competing with him or her for customers.

There are some who believe high-ticket direct sales programs like these are about to be targeted by the FTC. Thus there is the additional risk that the business will be shut down if the FTC prohibits companies from charging membership fees before people can make any money. Already there is the chance that members will not make enough sales to cover their initial start-up cost. Former members have complained that the training offered to members does not actually do a good job of teaching people how to market online.

To sum up, there are several major criticisms of EDC Gold Diamond level. First, the high price tag means it is harder for people to afford and this difficult for a member to sell to others. Second, the training and support materials are reported to be of lower quality than advertised. Third, the whole system is similar to other businesses the FTC has shut down or forced radical restructuring upon if they wanted to stay in business. If you are willing to take these risks and join anyway, you stand a chance of making money, but be warned that some people never recover as much money as they put in to get started.
