Using PLR (Private Label Rights) material is a quick and easy way to build a mailing list and generate an income, yet still there are people on forums all over the internet saying this is a useless way to create money and that it does not work at all. These people are sadly mislead and mistaken. This article will explain to you the 5 biggest mistakes made by people selling PLR and how to avoid them.
Mistake number 1: Not putting your own personal stamp on the product.
This is a huge mistake as simply putting your name at the end of the product and uploading it to start selling is what 99.9% of people do on the internet. What you must do is rename and rewrite the product, yes it may take an extra hour or two but this will help you stand out from the crowd and draw people to your product.
Mistake number 2: Using poor quality graphics.
While many PLR products come with a ready made graphics package, which is all very well and helps them sell their product in the first place. You still do not want to be using these for the exact same reason as above. To stand out you must use your own graphics, now this doesn't mean sitting at your computer 24/7 till it's created as life is too short. It would be much easier to simply get these graphics created for you by a professional. As no matter how awesome you think you're attempt is it won't be half as good as someone who makes a living from this.
Mistake number 3: Not creating an affiliate program.
Spending time making your product stand out from all the rest is simply a waste of time without creating an effective affiliate program. This simplest way to do this is to use ClickBank, as this not only allows you to reap the rewards of your hard work selling the product but also the hard work of others. It still amazes me to this day how many people will simply stick a paypal button onto their page and see how many sales they can rack up themselves.
Mistake number 4: Not helping your affiliates by providing the tools they need.
If you have an affiliate program you must provide them with everything they will need, this includes: email copy, blog posts, product reviews, email signatures, forum signatures, graphics and more. This helps your affiliate a lot and makes them more likely to promote your product successfully. Most affiliates will fail without this, yes it's lazy but it will happen.
Mistake number 5: Not building a list from your efforts.
You must. I repeat MUST! Be creating a list from all this work you have done. The best way to do this is to create at least three lists: a prospective leads list, a customer list, and an affiliate list. This helps you to promote your new products easier as you already have customers and leads to promote to directly and already have affiliates to promote it for you directly. So make sure you have an opt-in form on every page that you create.
By trying your best to avoid all of these mistakes you will succeed in selling PLR material, this of course is if your willing to invest the time and small amount of money it will take to get up and running.
