There are hundreds of ways to make money using the internet and at the same time utilising your website to its maximum. Google Adsense is one product that is available. But is it the best for increasing your income?

Like other big companies they are a law unto themselves and when you sign up with them you suddenly find yourself having to follow rules and regulations that just do not fit with your business.

How does Google Adsense work? The concept is very smart and very simple. You allow ads for other people's products and services be allowed to be displayed on your website. If somebody clicks on the ad you may get money for it. Usually a couple of cents.

There are some major flaws with this from a business point of view:

- If you are a small to medium business that doesn't get thousands of people visiting a week you will be lucky if you get a few cents a week in your pocket making it pointless having the adds on your site.

- When somebody clicks on an advertisers link the browser immediately opens in the advertisers site in the same window as your website. This is a major problem as your site is no longer available and you risk the loss of that potential customer coming back to your site.

- When somebody clicks on a link you only get a couple of cents for that privilege from your site. If any sales are made to that advertiser you get nothing. This makes really bad business sense.

So how can this be overcome?

There are a number of tools on the market that will do exactly what Adsense does but allows you to earn much more money.

If I told you that you could market a huge range of products and services on your website and get up to 75% return on each sale that results from somebody clicking an add on your site would you be interested?

Of course you would. Do the math - cents from Adsense - $$$'s from your own customised product promotions.

Here is how you do it:

1. Sign up with as many affiliate programs as you like. There are a few big ones out there such as ClickBank, Commission Junction and ClixGalore. All free to sign up with.

2. Purchase a software product that will allow you to create Adsense like advertisements. I use ClickBank Buddy because I get three fantastic products in one, brilliant support and a heap of other worthwhile products to promote my business. You will get your money back within days of purchase.

3. Your new advertising product should be able to allow you to promote absolutely any product, website or service you like. Once you set up your new software it will take less time to promote your products on your website than it does with Adsense.

4. Make sure your new advertising software allows the user to open the add in a new window. The product I use - ClickBank Buddy I found after much research to do just that and all of the other things I just listed.

Does this make sense? In the time it takes you to read this article you could have set up your own rotating adsense like adds and started to earn bigger dollars.

Finally this article is not meant to discourage you completely from using Google Adsense. By all means add a few ads from them to your website but whatever you do don't make them the primary external advertising source. Adsense will not make you rich!
