Websites are only as visible as the effort you take to advertise them. An online business without some method of finding your website online is nothing but a waste of internet bytes. And the number one method people use to garner the traffic they are looking for is through search engines.

Search engines work by spidering or crawling not just your own website, but all the websites that are pointing to your website. These spiders are looking for keywords and hints of what your content is about. They then take the data they gather, assess both the trustworthiness of your website as well as its relevance to a particular search word, and adjust where you show up in search rankings.

You should also avoid using frames, since these are not search engine friendly and can hinder the spider's crawling abilities. If the spiders cannot crawl your website because they are stuck reading the text in frames (which may not contain your best keywords), it will be difficult for you to improve your search engine standings.

Another useful way of making your website search engine friendly is through the use of meta tags in your page's HTML coding. The pages with your best keywords should have meta tags on the top of every page, so that spiders know the content of each page and how important it is to index. Simplifying the spiders' job is one of the best ways to get your site indexed properly.

Finally, always make sure that you use the correct types of style tags in your HTML and always try to use a cascading style sheet if you can. Reducing the superfluous coding and getting your page to load at a faster rate will also make your website more search engine friendly.

By utilizing all the proper tips to help search engines locate and read your website, you are ensuring that you receive the traffic you are looking for without putting in too much extra effort.
