5 Tips For Reducing Your Stress In The Workplace

One of the most often cited reasons for stress, is stress in the workplace, why is this and how can you help reduce stress in the work place? Here are 5 tips that can enable you to reduce stress in the work place.

Stress in the workplace tip one- your environment

Now you may not be able to control everything about your surroundings however check out what can you control and improve, for example if you work at a work station or desk what kind of level of organization is it in? Think of it as a kind of mental feng shui in that you're internal and external worlds are connected, so external disorganization is probably a sign of the same in your mind. So organize as much of your environment as possible and feel the benefits to your sense of wellbeing .

Stress in the workplace tip two- Setting your self up for success

Before you get to work each day what is your daily routine? Do you stay in bed to the very last minute rush breakfast or miss it completely? Set your self up for success by perhaps rising initially just 15 minutes (30 minutes would be great) earlier than usual find your self a quite place in your home, and prepare mentally for how you want to show up for your day. How do you want to look if it was going to be a better day at work, what is it that you are focusing on? Are you thinking about what you want to have happen through out your day or what you do not want? Really enjoy this YOU time. By the way when doing this it's best to avoid the telephone, television radio being on.

Stress in the workplace tip three- controlling your technology

Yes I know we can not turn back the clock and I am not suggesting that we should, with out the amazing advances with technology I would not be able to communicate with thousands of people through the internet. However their is a potential downside, in that we let technology control us instead of us controlling it. So do you have a system for reading what is important or not for your emails, what if twice a day you turned off your mobile phone for just 15 minutes and had 15 minutes just for you? What other technologies do you feel a slave too? A clue here is if you talk about it as though you can not turn it off or on.

Stress in the workplace tip four-Knowing what's important to you.

Many people may read the above and say that's all very well but my stress in the workplace comes about because I hate my workplace or job or even your career. This can be understandably stressful, and there is no easy answer however perhaps before leaping to the next job it would be time well spent looking at what is actually important to you, think back to a time in you life where you job or life generally was particularly rewarding for you, and ask what things were present that made that time so great for you. So for example for some people being with other people would be highly important to them in a job. If they where in a job or role and were totally isolated they would feel.
