In this generation, working from home is not an entirely new phenomenon. It is designed for people who want to earn money while they spend quality time with their loved ones at home. This desire drives many parents to seek an alternative to their 9-5 careers.

As the job title suggests, working from home does not require workers or web commuters of a company to travel from home to the place of work. For this reason, telecommunication plays an integral role in bringing the office inside the comfort of your own home.

Here are some tips for a successful work at home entrepreneur:

First, people who are engaged in this kind of business obviously must have a computer and an Internet subscription. At long distances, those involved in tele-marketing requires workers to collaborate with their colleagues and communicate with their bosses at all times through video-conferencing.

In other cases, a Voice over IP or VOIP is also useful because it provides communication services such as phone calls, voice mail, electronic-mail, web conferences, and facsimiles. It is cost efficient compared with the traditional analog phones and susceptible to power interruptions because it is connected to a cable modem, which is chiefly dependent on the electricity supply.

Second, look for a free-work-from-home employment listing of reliable companies through the web. There are companies that would help workers put up a business or hire them directly. Beware of fraud stay-at-home jobs.

Third, consider your lifestyle on deciding which job to apply.

There are many web-based jobs. Choose a job that suits your abilities, skills, interest, and passion. If you are a mother, take into perspective how much time you would allot for your children, husband, and job. It would be best to have a time table so that you can allocate time for your family, work, and leisure, to avoid burnout.

On the other hand, if you are single, you have to keep in mind that even though you have the luxury of time, you must take control of your activities and time table.

An array of possible home-based jobs is listed below.

Medical Transcription - requires at least two years in college or a two-year associate degree.

Accounting - an accountancy graduate has a competitive edge.

Child Care - baby-sitting experience is required.

Assembling/Selling Custom Gift Baskets - anyone can get away with creativity.

Making/Selling Candles and Crafts - creativity is a plus.

Catering - an experience with food services is a plus factor. Initial capital is high. Medical Claims Billing - experience in finance and accounting is beneficial.

Freelance Typing Jobs - no degree is required.

Publishing e-books - requires creativity and minimal start-up cost.

Online Affiliate Programs - marketing strategy is beneficial.

Some people may opt for free work from home jobs these days to offset costs amid world financial crisis and skyrocketing prices of commodities. It's important to realize that although it's possible to setup shop online for free, the quickest route is to be willing to put down at least a little cash investment.

It seems that there is no shortage of options from which to choose a profitable stay-at-home career. The possibilities of web-based jobs are countless and it's quite possible for the average person to become a successful work at home entrepreneur.
