Many of us who have tried online dating has overlooked the importance of having a great picture in our profile. There are quite a few reasons why people do not post their picture. Some people are shy, some people do not feel safe posting their picture, some people think it's not important, and some people do not have a picture.

Having a good picture in your profile is important because physical appearance is important to most of us. Mutual attraction is very important, there are many members who will only initiate contact with other members who have a nice picture in their profile.

If you have created a great profile but you do not have a pic you will be overlooked by many potential dating partners. There are many people who believe that if they have a well written profile it will not matter whether or not they have a picture in their profile.

This is false, sometimes people will read your profile and try to analyze you and they will ask themselves why you do not have a picture in your profile. This can have a negative effect on you even if you have a well written profile. People want to see who they are talking to.

When you decide to add a picture to your profile you should be honest, you should add a recent picture of yourself. You should not add an old picture especially if you look better in the old picture than you do at the moment.

You may have gained some extra weight and you may have aged a bit since you took that picture many years ago. However, you should always remember that you are still attractive and you stand a better chance of finding your ideal partner by being honest and posting a recent picture. People who are chatting with you want to see the real you, not the way you were 10 years ago.

Another common mistake people make in online dating is posting a picture of someone else. Doing this can cause many unnecessary problems when you go on a first date with someone you met online. Your date will question your honesty and integrity and they will feel deceived by your actions.

Honesty is the key to success when posting your picture online. If you have a recent picture of yourself and you think it's a great picture you should add it to your profile. If you do not have a great picture you should get one taken.
