Using miniblinds to cover your windows is a great idea to add some life to a room. Not only will they block the sun and offer your room privacy, but miniblinds can go with just about any décor you might have. They are also reasonably cheap and fairly easy to put up. Here is a brief run through to make this job easy.

Miniblinds are usually installed and mounted on the outside of the actual frame of the window by using U-brackets. The bar that holds the blinds can be extended or shortened to fit any length you choose. So this will also you to set the U-brackets outside the window frame, on the frame, or even on the wall.

The first thing you need to do though is figure out exactly where you are going to put the blinds. You will need to measure the window to ensure that the miniblinds you do buy are going to be large enough to cover them. Take three measurements of the window from the bottom to the top, write these measurements down, and then measure the length of the window as well.

If you would choose to buy the miniblinds online or order them through a catalog or something, you would just simply choose the blinds you want and include the measurements. Buying them straight from the store and in the box means that you will have to cut the blinds yourself according to your on measurements. Generally speaking, the lower end of the blinds should stretch far enough to reach or rest on the windowsill.

When installing the blinds, make sure you first read all of the instructions in the box, especially those on how to cut the blinds to make them the right length.

Next take a pencil and mark off where you are going to put the U-brackets. There are usually two different brackets, one right and one left, so make sure that before you screw the brackets down you are correlating to the same brackets.

Now all you have to do is use a screwdriver or screwdrill and screw in the mounting brackets. Once these are screwed in securely, take the miniblinds and simply slide them right into the brackets. To finish it up, snap on the little covers.

That's all there is to it! This is a pretty easy job to give your room some more pizazz and ambiance. Stand back and make sure that your miniblinds are the right length. At this point you can make the necessary cuts if you still need to do that.
