Article Directory :: Internet Marketing/Online Business Articles
Finding a profitable niche to market to online is really not that difficult to do. In fact, the internet has done all the research for us. All we have to do is connect the dots which can be accomplished in just a few steps.
The first thing you should do is write down a list of your interests, things that make you, you. You should include on this list your hobbies, hot buttons, and things that you consider yourself to be an expert in or at least are very knowledgeable with.
Now we need to start at the top of the list and work our way down into researching whether or not any of these niches may in fact be profitable. To do this all you have to do is look for things that are already selling in this topic. For example if we know a lot about dogs then check to see what information is selling on dogs. Look in dog magazines, go to a veterinarians office, or check on some websites and see what they are selling.
The best place to search for a niche is at Amazon. Amazon is a multimillion dollar site that is the worlds largest seller of physical books. They sell books in almost any niche imaginable and they rank them on their site from best seller on down. So if you want to see whats selling on dogs, go to Amazon.
Once you see a book that is selling really good on Amazon, that means there is a good chance that that book will sell good online too. All you need to do now is check to see how popular the niche really is online.
The tool I use for this job is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. It will show you just how many people are searching for the keywords you will be using. Write down a list of the top 5 or 6 main keywords that would describe your niche.
For example, if you decide to do an information product on dog training, dog training would be one keyword phrase. Simply type that into the tool and see how many monthly searches it is getting. If the total combined is over 75,000 searches per month, you for sure have a money market on your hands.
Whats also great about that keyword tool is that it will show you a list of other keywords and phrases that are getting searched on as well. When you begin to write content for your site, you can then use these keywords to pull more visitors.
Now you know just how easy it is to see if a certain niche can be profitable or not. Unfortunately, this is just the first step of making money with an online business. The real work comes with getting traffic to your new site.
