Get Free Content For Your Site

Those that are fairly new to the internet marketing world understand that it is very difficult to make money right out of the gates. There are a few things you can do though to ensure that your website will succeed long term. You'll need to optimize your website to receive free traffic from the search engines.

SEO or search engine optimization is the process of optimizing your website to rank high in the search engines. There are two parts to SEO, on site and off site.

The first thing you need to do is optimize your website for a specific keyword or keywords. You need to carefully select what keywords to use by doing a bit of research first. Find a keyword phrase that best describes your website to your visitors and one that gets a lot of searches per day but little competition.

It may not be wise to choose keywords that have the highest number of searches per day because they will most likely have the most competition. When you are just starting out, it will be very hard for you to get to page one for the most competitive keywords because your competitors will have a huge head start on you. Find keywords that will be attainable in a few months and that will land you at least some traffic. Trust me when I say that some traffic is much better than none.

Once you have your keywords selected then you go about placing your keywords strategically throughout the site. You'll need to put the keywords in your /index pages title. You want to also make sure that your keywords are included in your meta tags, alt image descriptions, and throughout the body of content on your page. You should also include your keywords using various header tags in your content as well.

After your website is optimized for your keywords you then need to pick up back links using your keywords in a hyper link or anchor link. If your not sure how to do this, just do a quick search and you'll find plenty of information.

There are plenty of free ways to get back links to your website. You can submit your website to the thousands of directory listings, write and submit articles, leave comments on blogs, participate in forums, and use social bookmarking services just to name a few.

Your website will slowly move up the rankings as you continue to pick up back links on a daily basis. Set daily goals to hit to ensure that you are consistent with getting back links. Over time you will find your website sitting at the top spot for your keywords. Work hard and don't stop until you see your website at that number one spot.
