There is no denying the fact that losing weight is a difficult process. If it were a walk in the park everyone would have success. Unfortunately, many will go throughout their lives trying to lose weight while having little to no success at all. To make sure you are one of the few that do succeed, here are five tips that will get rid of stomach fat. Before we discuss those tips however you must realize that for men fat around the stomach will be the last place to go. This is because fat is generally stored in the tummy area for men and in the hips and thighs for women. So don't lose heart, keep at it and you will see progress.

Firstly to maximize weight loss it should start at the beginning of your day. It is vital you eat a healthy and nutritional breakfast to jumpstart your metabolism for the day. You see, eating foods with a low Glycemic Index (GI) actually increases fat loss. This is because when your insulin levels are low the body converts fat into energy (glucose). Eating yogurt, fruits or a high protein shake is important. Although you may think you are saving calories by skipping breakfast, you are only setting yourself up for starvation eating for lunch and dinner and worse your body actually will go into survival mode by holding on to your fat reserves.

The next tip to losing abdominal fat is staying away from salty foods. Salty foods are horrible for your diet and will only increase your desire for water. While it is important to drink water, you will find yourself consuming too much believe it or not thanks to your high salt intake. In addition, stay away from trans fats (fried foods) as much as possible. Anything that is partially hydrogenated or has shortening in it should be avoided.

Not only do you want to change what you eat, but you want to change how you eat as well. Some think by cutting down their meals and having one or two large meals they are doing good. However, you are better off eating five or six small meals throughout the day. The reason for this is because your stomach and body can properly digest a little at a time rather than a couple of large meals.

As expected, the next part of getting rid of stomach fat is getting involved in some kind of cardio workout. It is important you get your heart pumping and burn the fat away with a quality workout three to four times a week. Whether it is running, swimming, biking or going to the gym and getting on the treadmill, it is imperative you include exercise into your regimen. You want to make your body into a fat consuming vehicle.

Contrary to popular belief sit-ups don't work. Why you may ask, well, that's because believe it or not you already have a six pack. The reason you or anyone else for that matter can't seem to see them is because they are covered over with fat. Get rid of the fat and presto your six pack will become evident. Now that doesn't mean you don't need to do some sort of core workout but include it in your cardio routine. Walking is the best exercise by far especially if you haven't done any for awhile. Remember, change what and when you eat coupled with a solid cardio routine and you will begin to see results.
