The next marketing strategy is bandit signs. These things work tremendously. There's no question that signs work. I use signs to this day because they work tremendously. In fact, most people don't even understand how well they work. You can always tell when something works when the politicians use them.

Beware of the Pitfalls

There are some pitfalls to doing bandit signs. One is that they are going to be labor intensive in terms of getting them out. Two, you are going to have some issues with your townships and boroughs and that they are going to have signage rules and regulations. You need to think some of these things through.

If you do it the wrong way, potentially you're going to get some nasty phone calls from your local township or police. You're going to get potentially some fines, or in my case, you'll probably get both. There are ways around it, but again, they tend to be a little bit labor intensive. Do they work? Absolutely, they do work.

Creating Bandit Signs

What I'm talking about with a typical bandit sign is a coroplast sign that's generally 18X24 or you can get smaller ones or you can even get larger ones. You would go to something like Banditsigns.com and there are literally dozens of websites that produce these things.

BanditSigns.com is going to have 15 or 20 different preprinted messages. They're going to have a headline already preprinted for you. You would just give them your phone number or website and they would incorporate that on the sign and then they would send the signs out to you.

If you go to a place like BanditSigns, they are going to run about $3.00 a sign or so. The metal frames, if you get those, are going to run about $0.50 so maybe $3.00-3.50 total. Or you could have the signs and you could staple them on telephone poles, things of that nature.

Again, understand something about telephone poles. The telephone companies don't appreciate you putting stuff on their poles and they can get a little angry from time-to-time if you do it. I'm going to give you guys a real world warning on these things.

The bandit signs, for about $3.00, you could go out and maybe order 100 of them. In fact, if you're really smart you go to Banditsigns.com and they always have sales of different versions of some of their signs, maybe they messed up the back of it or something, and they'll sell it to you for half price or something.
