I constantly kick myself over my online marketing achievements. I simply can't believe that I still have to get up and go to work every day!

Literally three years ago I discovered a simple way to make money online. I applied it, and guess what? It worked. So having found it, what did I do next? Believe it or not, I went on to try other methods instead of simply sticking with and repeating the technique I'd proven!

How dumb is that? Really dumb!

Why didn't I stick with it? Because it didn't make me rich overnight, that's the simple reason.

I was greedy and impatient. I kept reading emails and sales pages promising techniques that would give me what I wanted, quick bucks and plenty of them. So I kept switching from one strategy to another, spending plenty of cash on the way!

And whilst I was spending that cash chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, do you know what? The site that I published back at the start continued to make money, month in, month out, even though I was doing nothing with it!

So what did I do with that first site to make money with it long term?

Firstly I did my keyword research for the site thoroughly. Secondly I wrote and distributed articles based on the keyword research. Thirdly I got some links in to my site from other sites.

And that's it, I applied basic seo techniques that work and stand the test of time.

That site consistently earns me $100 or more every month in adsense revenue, and has done for three years.

Now think about this, because I do at the moment every day! What if I had published one site per month using the same blueprint over the last three years, knowing that the blueprint delivers $100 per month?

Today, I would have 36 sites all earning $100 per month, giving me a monthly income of $3,600! Aaargh! Why I have been so stupid and blinkered!

With these numbers in mind I have focused in 2009 on building niche sites using these tried and proven techniques; thorough keyword research, article marketing and one way linking.

As a result, I now have a whole bunch of niche sites ranking on page one of Google for traffic generating keywords. In fact the search engine rankings I've repeatedly achieved in the last few months have blown me away.

Where possible, I've reinvesting my income to automate or outsource tasks such as link building and content creation. This is allowing me to build my number of blogs at a much faster rate than I ever could manually.

So the secrets to building a niche marketing empire?

1. Ignore the get rich quick products and focus on proven methods

2. Simply keep repeating what works

3. Keyword research should be your specialist subject

4. Article marketing works well when you do it the right way

5. Automate and outsource everything but your keyword research

It's a very simple strategy, but it works over and over again!
