3. Sell products that people have a need for and an interest in. This can probably not be overstated, because if you have to go out and create an interest for the product you are trying to sell your work will become twice as hard.

There's no sense selling products for a low commission rate when you can find a product that's as good as, or even better, and is willing to pay you a higher rate. 5. Find out what's hot. You can quickly go to a affiliate marketing discussion forum and see what other affiliates are talking about. If possible position yourself in a market that will continue to grow. This way the efforts that you're spending today can still create income for you tomorrow.

6. Carefully consider the marketing resources that are being offered you. Do you like the looks of the banners that you can use to promote what? Do they provide good sales copy that you can include in an email marketing campaign or even post on your blog! Unless you are good at marketing you need to be joining an affiliate marketing program that will provid you with the highest quality marketing materials.

7. Make sure that the company can provide you real-time statistics. It's extremely motivating to see yourself making progress and know that you're making money. You will quickly become addicted to receiving e-mails that have a subject line that says something like, "Congratulations, you've made another sale." Along those same lines, it's very uplifting to be able to login and look at your income grow on a daily basis, which real-time statistics can provide to you.
