That's right how do I get people to read this article? I know, do you know? There are tons of articles about just about any subject anyone could imagine. Now with Ezines, printed articles, blogs, websites, everywhere we look there is information about something. This includes articles about people like Chris A. Hutcherson or Chris Hutcherson, or Josh Hutcherson or maybe even Gary Goldstein. So how do you get people to filter out all the other stuff and read your particular article?

As you might suspect, the headline of the article is probably the most important feature of the article. As people are searching the web or scanning a magazine, you have about one second to get their attention. The title of the article should be eye-catching as well as say something about what the article is about. There are lots of publications that use this principle to the max. Ever look at the cover of Sports Illustrated or The New Yorker or really almost any magazine that is sold on a news stand? There are tons of headlines on their covers that make you want to read the rest of the article.

If the headlines are compelling enough, you buy the magazine. The headlines have served their initial purpose. Is the main headline article on page 1? Of course not! The magazine publishers want you to look through the rest o the magazine. As you are paging through the magazine you see other headlines that catch your eye. In fact, you may forget which article you were trying to get to in the first place!

Even after you get their attention, we all know that very few people are going to read your article word for word. People just don't have the time. So make your important points stand out. Use subheadings if you can. The subheadings will encourage people to move down to the rest of the article.

Make the beginning of each paragraph grab their attention. If I don't find the first line of the paragraph interesting or important, then I may not bother to read the rest of it. I'm just looking for the information that interests me. We are all in the process of filtering information. Anything you can do to facilitate that filtering will increase the chances that people that are the most interested in what you are writing about will find your article. Just remember it is all in the headline.
