There is an old adage, practice makes perfect. Well, in soccer that's spot on. To become a great soccer player you must be willing to practice various soccer drills. This can be done at practice but if you want to become a stand out star you need to practice on your own time as well. To become that star, you can practice with some of the free soccer drills below for starters.

Our first drill is one that many know as juggling. I know what you may be thinking, "how am I going to juggle in a game?" Well, your not. What juggling does is lay the ground work for more advanced skills in the future. This soccer drill is easy, fun and the best part is that it can be done alone.

By practicing juggling, you'll develop a great feel for the ball. This helps your dribbling and trapping ability which are very important in a game. Juggling also strengthens concentration, balance and the ability to control the ball with both feet. Juggling just 30 minutes a day can go a long way in helping with many other skills.

Next we have one on one dribbling. This drill should be done in pairs to maximize the effectiveness. There are so many instances in game play where you'll need to take on an opponent and get past them. The more practice you have with one on one dribbling the better you'll be when it really counts, in a game.

To get this skill down pat you'll want to play both roles. In one turn you'll be the defender and in the next you'll be the aggressor. Have fun with this. When you get past the other player you get one point and when it's their turn and they get past you, they get a point.

Our final skill is called one touch passing. To make this most effective you will need some of your friends. This drill will help in your ball handling skills and also work on your agility. The basics of this drill is having at least 4 players, 2 on either side about 10 feet apart. Start passing the ball to a player on the opposite side only touching the ball once when it comes at you. As you get familiar with this drill try speeding it up to increase your skill level.

Soccer drills are the backbone of what makes a good player great. Be sure to practice these free soccer drills on a regular basis. You would be hard pressed to find a great player who doesn't practice on their own time. How do you think they became so great.
