Look, positive thinking is useless without taking action towards what you want-It's just as simple as that. You've got to add "positive doing".
You can't just sit down on the floor, close your eyes, think about what it's like to own a Ferrari and then keep doing the same things you always do. BUT, if you take the first step of imaging what it's like to own that Ferrari, and then take action in the direction of getting that Ferrari, you are many times more likely to get it now.
Look at it this way: most people who set goals check in on them just once a year… New Years, right!?!
Now if you have a goal, and the only time you check in to see if you are hitting your goal is once a year, how likely are you to achieve it? Right, not very likely.
If you were to set a goal and check in with that goal once a month (compared to once a year) would that improve your chances of hitting the goal? You bet it would.
Now what if you checked in once a week to see if you were on track to hit your goal… would that increase your chances for hitting that goal or decrease them? Easy answer right.
And what if you were to check in with your goal once a day, or more than once a day? Let me tell you, if you check in with your goal more than once a day, you will flat get it done-because it's going to be in your face until you do get it done!
Making It Happen
One of the best ways to focus on your goal on a daily basis is to schedule it right into the start of your day. A useful thing to do is to have a simple list of questions that you use to begin your day right. Here's a quick sample:
1) What are just two or three things that I am grateful for in my life?
2) How can I play full-out today?
3) How can I provide more value to more people today?
4) How can I improve my work by ½ of 1 percent today?
5) What is one thing I don't want to do, but if I did it, would make more of a positive impact on my life or business than any other thing? (and then do it)
If you answer these questions every morning when you wake up and before you start your day, you're in a position to live not only a happier life, but get more done as well. And then watch your results improve.
