Within this article I will outline some simple self defense moves that work and make you a better fighter. Now most thugs that will attack you or give you a hard time on the streets use strikes to subdue their opponents.
Now you have to remember that in a street fight any moves are legal. There are no rules, unlike the UFC and if you can gouge out one of your attackers eyes after you stun him with a punch to the throat, you are in the lead.
The very first thing you want to do, is to be the first one to attack. This will throw off the bad guy since it is his primary thing to do first. You will screw him up and take him by surprise.
If you are able to break your opponents fingers while grappling or are able to grab his testicles and squeeze hard, you will have the upper hand.
You want to attack the vulnerable areas on the human body as your main targets for strikes. Hit him in the throat, go after his eyeballs, kick him in the testicles, punch him in the kidneys, destroy his neck any way you can.
Your motive for the fight is to walk away a survivor and not a victim beaten unconscious into submission. You want to be able to tap into your animal anger and unleash hell.
A problem with many martial arts classes is the fact that they use "typical attacks" and don't add any realism to the practice like brute force, and getting the student to feel pain and react positively to it.
Now what I do recommend is attending martial arts classes that are focused on sparring and drilling. Striking and fighting on the ground are the two self defense moves you need to know.
Another thing is to train extensively with weights and be in all around good physical condition. Personally I out weigh most of my opponents but when on the streets, I carry a legal self defense tool with me at all times.
The point of this article is to remind you to use whatever self defense moves you can pull off in the heat of battle. Being able to fend off and actually beat down an attacker is essential to your survival.
Just remember that the UFC doesn't compare to attacks in real life situations, so don't be swayed or fooled into thinking a mugger or rapist will be using rules when fighting you. They won't be.
Try remembering and practicing the techniques mentioned above and stay safe!
