Giving Your Sales That Extra Push

Sometimes it can feel as if you have hit a bit of a plateau in your sales. It is at times like this that you really need to give things an extra push to get that momentum back up. I decided to share with you some of the ideas I have for moving forward when things really seem to be slowing down.

Network: This is a term that we all got sick of in the eighties and tend to associate with smarmy guys in suits at parties. In this brave new world the face of networking has changed substantially but it is still very important and can really pay dividends. When you network you will need to do so with a variety of people. I find that I get different things out of a relationship with people at different stages of their marketing career. It is always good to network with people who are extremely successful and experienced, clearly you can learn a lot from those types of people.

I am also a big advocate of networking with people who are at the same stage as myself in the whole process. You can see I have tried to implement this on my site. This is a great way to get creative. Discussing your ideas with people who are on a parallel with your self will often generate things that will significantly boost your sales. It is a very pleasant stress release too.

Promote a new product: I can hear some of you groan from here and I know how you feel. You have just gotten to terms with the products you already sell. But you know this makes sense. People who like and trust you probably do so because they have already purchased what you have to offer and found it useful. They are primed to continue your business relationship but if you have nothing new to offer them then there is little point in them sticking around.

Giving these people something new will mean they stick with you and the new product will attract new customers who may be interested in your other products. So, bite the bullet and find yourself something that fits in with your product range.

Measure Your Success: A lot of people I know fail to do this and it puzzles me. Someone suggested to me once that it is because they were scared to know exactly what they were achieving in case it fell well below their expectations. This in itself should ring warning bells. Tracking your success is vital for a few reasons.

If things have actually hit a plateau or even worse a downturn then you need to know about it to fix it. As frightening as the prospect of finding out things are not going so well may be, surely the idea of that continuing for a long period of time is even more scary. You need to know what your sales are like to measure when they need a boost and in what areas.

Secondly, things are rarely as bad as we fear they are and tracking your success may just give you the boost in confidence you need to find even more forward momentum.
