When you are talking about yourself, what do you sound like? Overall, would you rate it as positive or negative? Many people talk negatively about themselves and have negative thoughts about themselves. Have you ever heard someone say something like, "I just cannot get that right. I am a complete idiot." Perhaps you have said or you have heard someone say something like, "How could I be so completely stupid?" This is a common thing to hear, especially if someone is feeling down about themselves at a particular point. The unfortunate thing is that these people probably don't know what a huge impact that negative self talk and those negative thoughts are having on their lives.

The Things We Say and Think Affect Us!

The things that we say and think do affect us very much. Our realities begin within our thoughts. As we continue to think and say these things, they manifest themselves within our lives. Our subconscious mind makes things happen. When we say or think certain things, our subconscious mind picks up on it and will begin truly creating our reality through the images and words that it is receiving. For instance, if someone worries for 2 weeks over jumping off a diving board, and thinks that he or she is going to fail or become scared up there, chances are it will happen. When you constantly think that something is going to happen or you're going to be scared, you will convince yourself to be scared and you will most likely fail. However, if that same person totally believed that he or she would ace the jump and had complete and total confidence, chances are he or she would make the jump and make it great. This is how our thoughts and our words affect us. It is important to know this if you want all of your dreams and desires to come true.

Using This Information to Shape Our Lives!

Knowing how your thoughts and words affect your reality, you can use it to your advantage. Think of the things that you want to have and achieve in your life and use your thoughts and words to shape them! For instance, if you are desperate to get that promotion that you've been waiting for, say things that are positive about it. For instance, "When I become senior manager...," or "I will be getting that promotion very soon." Think positively about it as well. Imagine yourself sitting in the senior manager office, cashing larger checks, etc. These are very important tools that can help you accomplish all you've dreamed about and desired.

Countering the Negative with the Positive!

Anytime you begin thinking negative thoughts, immediately and consciously recognize it and replace it with a positive thought. If you are starting to say something negative, recognize it and replace it with a positive thought. Continue to do this until you are completely absorbed in the positive images, thoughts and words. These tools will prove to be helpful to you time and time again. Good luck; you can do it!
