If you've been article marketing for any length of time you're bound to fall into a writing slump every now and then. I've got some encouragement for you though--as easily as you fell into the slump, you can just as easily fall out of it.

Seriously, in a matter of minutes you can have a complete about face and find yourself overflowing with enthusiasm for writing again.

The key to overcoming writer's block is CHANGE. Most of the time we fall into slumps because we're just plain bored and uninspired.

Here are 5 of my best tips for propelling yourself out of a writing slump:

1) Change the length of your articles.

If you're used to writing without a word count limitation, setting a goal for yourself can get your mind thinking in a different way. Aim for articles that are somewhere between 400 and 800 words, or get even more strict and write shorter articles that are 400-500 words long.

2) Write an article set.

An article set is a series of articles that are connected to one another in topic. For example, the topic "10 Ways To Be A Better Parent" can be broken into 10 different articles each focusing on a parenting strategy.

3) Use an article template.

Try these types of articles:

The 'How To' article--Teach your reader how to do something.

'Top Tips' articles--List a series of tips on a centralized topic. (This article is a 'Top Tips' article.)

Interview Articles--Write an introductory paragraph and a concluding paragraph and let the "meat" of your article be an interview between you and someone in your field.

Case study articles--Do you have a living breathing example of a point you'd like to illustrate? Try writing an article that talks about a particular person's experience and their journey toward accomplishing a goal.

FAQ articles--You will get your best ideas for articles from your readers/customers. Are there any questions that they frequently ask you? You can turn those questions in articles that provide answers.

4) Get ambitious.

Sometimes setting the goal of churning out 4 articles in one sitting is enough to ignite some enthusiasm in you. Writing several articles in one sitting also allows you to get some writing momentum going, and as if that wasn't enough, you'll get an immense feeling of accomplishment: "Look how many articles I wrote in just one day!"

5) Change your environment.

Here are some ideas:

Clean your desk, re-arrange your office, take your laptop and write in a cafe or on your back patio. Get crazy and write offline in a notebook with an actual pen and paper. Write early in the morning while the house is still quiet, or write late at night. The idea is to switch things up--whatever you are used to doing, do differently.

Changing up your writing routine is the key to revitalizing your whole attitude. Try one or more of these tips, and you'll be amazed at how a simple tweak in your writing routine can re-ignite your passion for writing!
