I remember my wife's concern when she was pregnant with our youngest child and it had to do with pregnancy weight loss. She kind of despaired that her body would not go back to her pre pregnant form and as she was getting older, it would be difficult for her to lose weight after her pregnancy. So we began checking on books about pregnancy weight loss and there were a few that were very informational but nothing comprehensive enough for my wife's concerns. It may have been that she was a bit emotional as pregnancies do have a tendency to elevate and increase hormones, creating an imbalance of sorts but who was I to disagree with the mother of my child on the topic of pregnancy weight loss, something which I could never have any real experience on. So I deferred to her wishes, like any husband would do.

Let me slightly digress a bit by saying that pregnant mothers are the most beautiful of all women in their stages. I say this with all sincerity not because most pregnant women feel bloated and fat during their last terms of their pregnancy, but because they do have the power of continuing our species. Time and time again, I am in awe to see an expectant mother lovingly touch her stomach perhaps reacting to a movement from the child within. Or even to see a would be father kneeling down to place his ear on his wife's stomach, giggled and giddy with the sounds or movements made. More than anything else, I believe that watching such couples is a constant reminder of how good the world is.

The best advice we got regarding the issue of pregnancy weight loss did not come from any doctor, nor from any book but from a friend of my wife. She had visited us at a time when my wife felt most depressed and despite of my reassurances that she looked perfect and beautiful, she was still in the doldrums. Her friend had told her that she was at this point nurturing for two and that everything still had to be done in moderation, but that she trust her motherly instincts when it came to the amounts of nourishment she wanted to consume. From that day on, my wife never did get depress again. After giving birth to my son, she exercised and did lose most of the weight. Moreover, she got healthier. Fittingly, she is a great mother to my children. And that is all I could ask for. How good the world is.
