Finding high quality accessories will help, augment and increase your chances in metal detecting. These accessories will vary ofcourse and will depend on the environment where you intend to metal detect.

For example, a digger is something you will need when you metal detect on land or the beach. You will also need a ground cloth, pouch or including trash bags where you can put your treasure finds and garbage you have sift through.

Most beginners just use a simple garden trowel which comes in various sizes and range to choose from. Not only that, a garden trowel can be considerably cheaper than a special trowel designed by manufacturers for treasure hunting. Some of these trowels or digging implements are even have indicators on them to let you know how deep you're digging.

You will also need ground cloth for cleaning. This does not have to be bought. A piece from an old denim can be a good ground cloth. Some use ground cloths to lay down their scooped dirt in for scanning.

Once you have found some interesting piece of value, you will need a pouch or some container close to you to put your item in. This can be a multi-purpose apron, belt bag, or pouch.

Another important accessory is a headphone. With a headphone, you will hear even the faintest sounds. Not only that, environmental factors can be blocked out. Howling wind, crushing waves and children laughing for example will be muted, leaving you out there "alone" with your metal detector.

A lamp or a flashlight will also come in handy when metal detecting. There a a variety of head lamps available for you to choose from. Having a head lamp will also help you when you wanted to continue with your search in the dark.

Besides all of the above, there are some additional stuff you'll eventually need once you start finding valuable things. First of all when you start locating those old coins, you got to have a magnifying glass to have a closer look on your coin.

You might also want to start buying small plastic containers in all different sizes to put your finds in. There are even some containers with adjustable slots to fit to the size of the items you have found.

lastly, you will also need spare batteries with you. Keep a healthy supply around you. You will need batteries for flashlights, as well as your radio and other battery operated appliance you are carrying.

These extra accessories will not only help you make your search more convenient, it will also increase your chances in finding more treasures.
