The reason behind this article on how to choose a cigar is to give you a lot of the information you will need if you are starting to experiment with cigar smoking or just starting out. Obviously before you can actually smoke a cigar you will have to choose one to smoke.

There are several key things to look at when you go about choosing a cigar. The color, shape and size of the cigar are very important. Something else to think about when choosing a cigar is under what circumstances and where you plan on smoking your cigar. One of the last things to think about is the cost; some cigars can become very expensive.

A good way to decided on the shape and size of a cigar is how well it feels in your hand, although the size does not relate to anything except for personal preference. Sometimes the color will have an effect on how the cigar will taste overall. As a rule of thumb darker tobacco has a tendency of being stronger in flavor. Just remember though that you cannot judge a cigar by the wrapper it comes in.

At times a cigar can be wrapped in darker leaves, but in all actuality it might be filled with a lighter and milder tobacco. In regards to the situation and circumstances in which you will be smoking a cigar, it all comes down to how much time you will have to enjoy the cigar.

If you have plenty of time to sit back and enjoy it you will want to get a larger and longer cigar, if you only have a short time like 30 to 45 minutes you will want to get a smaller cigar.

On the topic of cost, you would be best advised to stick to your budget. You can get a great cigar fairly inexpensively, but in the same regards the more expensive ones can also be great.

You will want to be prepared to do some experimenting to find the right cigar for you and the situation you plan to smoke it in. You will want to find a cigar that fits very well in your mouth and hand and also gives you a great taste that you enjoy. You should not worry what others will say, smoking a cigar is all about the pleasure and enjoyment you get from it.

There is a little bit of an art and some skill to lighting a cigar. The way you go about lighting it and what you use can affect the way it tastes. If you are planning on using matches, your best bet is to make sure you are using wooden matches.

Prior to actually lighting your cigar you should let the chemicals at the tip of the match to burn away. If you are going to use a lighter you should avoid lighters that use fluid, you should probably use butane lighter for this.

No matter how you light it you should take precautions to not overheat the cigar. You will want to hold the flame under the cigar as you slowly rotate it heating it evenly and as you draw it in take it slow and savor it.

You should sit back and appreciate the cigar once you have it lit. Cigars can be a great way to relax and meditate. It can help you take your focus off of all the stresses around you.

After you have spent some time smoking your cigar you might feel very refreshed and ready to once again face the world, or on the other hand you might just want to continue to relax and meditate
