I am convinced that too many people join affiliate marketing programs without taking them seriously. I think it is almost too easy to join an affiliate marketing program and that contributes to the failure rate of many people.

Let me explain what I mean!

First of all it is free to join affiliate marketing programs. There are literally millions of them and you can find them one at a time or in any good affiliate network website.

When people do not have anything invested into something it is much easier to give up. If you were to invest thousands of dollars into starting a home business of your own you would work harder to make sure it is successful.

When you have no financial investment at stake it becomes easier to spend more time looking for the perfect opportunity than to actually work at the one you are currently in. Therefore people fail without really giving themselves a fair chance of succeeding.

Affiliate marketing merchants almost fall over themselves providing everything you need to succeed. Some of the affiliate programs today are just outlandish in the support they offer.

I am talking about unbelievable websites and blogs that are a prebuilt for you to promote. And you are given some of the best marketing materials to advertise with.

The banners an graphics affiliate programs make available today are extremely well written and very eye appealing. Many affiliate programs offer prewritten blog articles you can post directly in your blog.

They also offer classified ads, email messages, videos, podcasts, and just about anything you can think of to promote your affiliate business. The one thing they do not give you is the effort and desire to work at using these promotional tools.

One other thing that is extremely easy to use with affiliate marketing programs today is the discussion forums they offer. This gives you a chance to interact with other affiliates and hopefully keep yourself motivated when you see the success some of them are having.

Discussion forums are a form of social networking which is extremely popular on the Internet today. These are easy to join as well and if you are smart you'll take advantage of them.

Ultimately it comes down to desire no matter how easy it is to join affiliate marketing programs today. If you have enough desire, and are willing to work hard, you can make a lot of money with this unbelievable business model. That part is totally up to you.
