Anyone who knows they need help with tax debt should seek assistance immediately. Too many people try to seek tax relief by personally negotiating with the IRS, and the results are disastrous. The IRS knows most taxpayers don't have a good understanding of their taxpayer rights and will take full advantage of the situation.

Asking For Help

Most people are not used to asking for help. Instead, people do their own bookkeeping and then their own taxes. Though there are software packages which guarantee the taxes will be computed correctly based on your responses to questions, a lack of tax regulations means you can't even be sure you completely understand the questions. As a result, millions of people get correction notices in the mail letting them know a mistake was made.

Added to those taxpayers which made honest mistakes are those who ran into financial troubles and were unable to pay their income taxes. All of these taxpayers should be getting help with tax debt, because trying to negotiate with the IRS alone is a mistake.

A classic case proving this point are those taxpayers who are told by the IRS that penalties cannot be removed or that it takes administrative review. Scheduling a special review can take months, and in the meantime, the penalties you need reduced continue to climb. Even if you get the penalty reduction, it's a reduction on an already higher amount.

That's the crux of the problem with dealing with the IRS. Their administration of the rules and regulations always seem to go in the direction of charging taxpayers more. When you need help with tax debt, it means you are either unable to pay these mounting charges or need assistance proving the IRS is wrong.

A Little Help From My Friends

The Beatles song croons, "I get by with a little help from my friends." When you need help with tax debt, an experienced tax negotiator becomes your "best friend" for a while. Asking for help may be difficult when you're used to doing it all on your won, but this is help that can relieve the stress of the IRS collection process and save you literally thousands of dollars.

Tax problems can refer to many different scenarios.

Wage garnishments

Levies Liens

Audit findings

Penalty accruals

Seizures

There are just as many possible solutions to these problems including lien release, installment payment agreements and penalty abatements. Getting help with tax debt from an experienced tax negotiator can result in resolution of even the most difficult situations.
