Everybody knows that CDs can be expensive and most often, one does not really get to enjoy every track in the available CDs in the stores. No matter how much you love the artist whose songs are in the CD, you would always find yourself wishing that there were songs from other artists in the CD. That way, the money spent on that CD will be all worth it and we would get to listen to the songs in the CD all you want. However, that is not likely to happen as compilations are hard to come by. Most often, all you would find in music stores are albums featuring only one artist. Of course, there would be some compilation albums and soundtracks but you would not get that much from those. What you really want is a mix of all the popular artists today in one CD. That may be hard to do because of the number of the songs but you could always get another CD for your music.

You could easily do that by downloading music online. That is the in thing now as more and more people are downloading music online instead of purchasing CDs. Music CDs are still considered special because it contains an album cover and the pictures of the artists. The acknowledgements and other messages from the artists are also there so CDs can still be considered as valuable memorabilia for fans. However, functionality wise, CDs are no longer considered to be on top. Before, people found carrying CDs around cool and convenient for them because they could get to listen to music anywhere they go as long as they have a player to go with the CDs. Today, however, bringing CDs around can be a hassle for most. No matter how compact they may seem, the CDs would just take up too much space in your bags. Besides, only a few songs could fit into one CD when more than a thousand could fit in a single compact device.

There are a lot of devices now that could carry thousands of songs that could be played over and over again without getting damaged. Today, all you would have to do is download music online and you would get to save all your downloaded files either on your iPod or your mobile phone. There are, of course, a lot of mobile phones with MP3 capability and because of that, you could also use your cell phone as a music device.

The online media is getting bigger and bigger as a lot of artists now are starting to promote their songs through online means. They sometimes leak parts or even their whole song online to get the popularity that they and their song needs. Some websites actually allow free music downloads as long as you pay a one time registration fee. This is mandatory for all legal music download sites as most of those that provide free access to music are bogus and virus-filled websites.
