• Reader Question: How Can I Use Keywords In My Articles To Please Search Engines And My Target Readers?

    Article_Marketing_Writing_ Keywords

Recently I asked you “What do you want to learn about Article Marketing?”, and I got a great question from Georjina.

    Georjina asked:

I’d like to take my article writing up a notch, such as how to effectively use SEO and keywords when writing them.

My sticking point has been writing more often. Because search engines appear to want one thing and readers another, I get that ‘deer in the headlights’ frustration to make my articles come together.

That is an excellent question that I’m sure many other readers are wondering as well.

If you want to “take things up a notch”, how do you effectively use your keywords to grab the attention of readers and also appeal to Google?

I’ve broken it down into a 2-step process:

  • Top 25 Article Marketing Tips

    article marketing tips

Over the years I've learned so much about how to do an effective article marketing campaign, so I thought it might be helpful to gather some of my best tips and just list them all in one spot.

Since you wouldn't get very far in the tips without first knowing the basics, I'll give you some preliminary info on what article marketing is and how it works:

    What is Article Marketing?

With Article Marketing you write and syndicate free reprint articles via article directories, ezine editors, and announcement groups. A key element of Article Marketing is the author resource box, which contains a short author bio and a link back to the author's website. Through submitting free reprint articles that are picked up by online publishers, a website owner can effectively build links, increase search engine ranking, drive traffic to his website, and establish himself as an expert in his niche.

    How does it work?

Each time an author submits an article, he includes his resource box. A resource box is a short author bio, which also includes a link back to the author's website. Every time a website owner decides to publish a free reprint article, he also includes the author's resource box. So, every time the article is picked up for publication the author's name and a link back to the author's website are published also. In this way the author builds links and increases exposure for his website. The people clicking through to his website will be doing so because they found his article helpful, and since his article is on the same topic of his website the article generates targeted traffic.

And now, without further ado, here are your tips for executing a successful article marketing campaign:

  • How To Use Your Blog To Generate Articles

    article writing

If you're using both article marketing and a blog as marketing tools to drive traffic to your website, I've got some good news for you!

You can actually play one marketing tool off of the other (and practically kill two birds with one stone) by coordinating your articles to bounce off of your previously published blog posts.

This is what I've started doing, and I tell you it makes writing articles so much easier.

No more exerting twice the amount of effort trying to come up with separate ideas for the blog and my articles–I use one writing effort to do the bulk of the work in creating 2 pieces of content.

Here's how you can do that too:

  • How To Find Great Article Topics

    great article topics

As article marketers, we write as part of our livelihood. We're writing articles every month (when all goes well! ;-) ) and are submitting them consistently over the lifetime of our website.

But like all writers, you probably have really prolific periods of writing and then also some pretty dry ones too.

If you've ever had one of those days/weeks/months where you just couldn't muster the passion or creativity to brainstorm any great article topics, then this article is for you.

I've got a few tricks up my sleeve that I like to use to get my creative juices flowing and come up with article topic ideas that are also SEO friendly (they'll help your target market find your articles when they do Google searches).

     Let's get started:

  • How To Write Search Engine Friendly Article Titles

    keywords article titles

You've probably heard folks telling you to use your keywords in your articles and your article titles, but when you're writing articles over the long term simply putting keywords in your article titles can become repetitive very quickly.

I'd really like to encourage you to go a few steps beyond just inserting your keywords in your article titles–how about trying to lure readers to your specific article?

Most of the time your keywords will be on a more general topic (the topic of your website), and then when you're writing articles you'll delve into more detailed topics under that more general one.

For example, if my keyword phrase is 'article marketing' my articles will be on specific aspects under that overarching theme. Some articles may be about writing, others may be about using keywords in articles, others may be about submitting articles–the possibilities go on and on.
