• Getting Started With Article Marketing: Just Focus on these 3 Big Things…

    submit-articles

I always get excited to hear from folks who are new to the article marketing world who are enthusiastic about diving in and learning everything there is to know. Recently I received this message from a subscriber to our newsletter:

"Article marketing is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time but didn't have the courage to try till now. Its almost become an obsession since I started searching… it sure is overwhelming… but it wont stop me. I'm determined to get what I want. Any help or advice you can offer will be appreciated."

    I love that attitude!

Yes, I know that when you're undertaking any new endeavor that it can be a bit overwhelming thinking of everything you don't know but need to learn. No matter who we are, we always start out as beginners.

    Think about it:

There was a time when Mozart didn't know how to play the piano.

There was a time when Michael Phelps didn't know how to swim.

There was a time when Hemingway didn't know how to write.

There was a time when Van Gogh didn't know how to paint.

We all start as novices whenever we try something new, but that doesn't mean we will always be fumbling around awkwardly. We learn and get better, and things become easier when we get used to the new activity.

And I promise you–doing Article Marketing is a whole lot easier than becoming a master pianist, swimmer, novelist, or painter!

You can do this! It just takes baby steps and knowing what to focus on at the beginning and what can be saved for later on.

And you don't have to try to figure out all this stuff on your own–I've been article marketing for years and years and have even turned it into a successful business (you know, SubmitYOURArticle.com ;-) ), and I'm more than happy to share advice.

So what's my advise for those of you who are just getting started?

Rather than trying to understand a billion things all at once, all you need to do is focus on 3 main things when you're doing article marketing:

  • The Difference Between Educational Articles and Promotional Articles

    keywords article titles

I always tell folks that in doing article marketing their articles should be educational in nature, rather than sales oriented, but I think that sometimes even by saying that articles should be "educational", that still leaves a bit of mystery as to what exactly an educational article is.

After all, depending on how you look at things you could convince yourself that writing an article about the merits of a product that you're selling on your website is educational.

I guess in a way that would be educational (you're giving information to the reader), but that is not the type of educational article we're talking about when we're dealing with article marketing.

It helps to be more specific, so I thought I'd really pin things down as much as possible as to what exactly and educational article is (and is not):

  • Article Titles–The first 3 words count!

    Article-Titles-Keywords

Have you ever thought about how important your article titles are?

In your title your 3 objectives are:

    1) To convey what your article is about.

    2) To capture a reader's attention, which will in turn inspire them to read your article.

    3) To include your keywords.

But how to do you accomplish all 3 of these goals?

    One tactic that works:

Pay special attention to the first 3 words of your title.

  • Do You Have An Article Idea List?

    Article-Topics

Writing consistently is one skill that is absolutely necessary for executing an effective article marketing campaign, but what do you do if you're just stumped when it comes to writing ideas?

Before I started organizing my writing ideas, I would almost dread sitting down to write, especially if I wasn't feeling very inspired or creative. It can be frustrating to know you need to write an article when the creative well is bone dry.

There is an easy way around this though–capitalize on brainstorming sessions.

    Here's what I do:
