Are you a new website owner? If you are, you’re probably wondering how in the world you’re supposed to get people to come to your site now that it’s all set up.

There is a common misconception that when you launch a brand new website that people will just naturally flock to it–oh how wrong that is!

Your website can be the most interesting, most beautiful, most informative site on the internet, but if you don’t market it properly, you will continue to twiddle your thumbs as you wait for readers to appear on your website’s doorstep.

To save you a lot of time and frustration, I want to spell things out so that you know what you should be doing and what you can expect. I encourage you to use article marketing as your main marketing tool, and these 5 tips will help you achieve article marketing success:

1 – Create a valuable website.

For all you new website owners, the first thing I want to say is that it’s extremely important to have a website that offers value.

You can market your site all day long, but if the site doesn’t contain quality content, there’s really not much point. So, before doing any of the steps below, look for ways to add value to your website. When I say “add value”, I mean add content or tools to your website that will benefit your website visitors.

In marketing your website, you’re trying to lure visitors to it. You need to have something at your website to hold your visitor’s attention once they get there.

2 – Submit 8 articles a month.

Article marketing is such a popular choice for new website owners, because it’s totally doable and you don’t have to be a SEO junkie in order to be successful.

You need to submit articles in the proper quantity though–8 articles a month per website is ideal. It’s important to be consistent with your submissions, doing them every month.

Incidentally, submitting more articles is not better–it can actually hurt you in the search engines. In my experience 8 articles a month is the “happy medium”. It’s enough to see results, but not so much that it sends up red flags with search engines.

3 – Use ArticleLeverage.

This is perhaps the hardest step of all. We all want to see results yesterday, right?

Unfortunately that’s just not how website marketing works. First, you must be consistent, submitting articles on a regular basis each month. You need to submit the right quantity (8 articles a month for each website that you’re marketing).

You also need to have realistic expectations and know that changes to your website ranking for each of your keywords will likely take place in fits an spurts. It’s not uncommon to see results from the first month, but it’s probably more usual to take several months to see the first positive change in Google’s rankings.

Article marketing is a long term marketing tool, but it reliably produces results. When you first start to market your brand new website, keep track of where your website is ranking for each of your keyword terms, and keep a log of your website’s ranking each month (one time a month). This will help you see when changes take place in your rankings.
