Article Submission Sites: Ezine Article Submission
Published By Google+

You can get your feet wet with manual article submissions...

In the previous post in this series about how to submit articles, we covered the pros and cons of the 3 methods of submitting to article submission sites.

One of the methods we covered was submitting articles manually. While manual submissions are the least effective means of submitting articles to publishers, manually submitting can be a great way to dip your pinky toe into the article marketing waters.

Let’s say you are just getting started and would like to try submitting articles by hand. Last time I promised you some help with this…

There are 3 types of publishers you should submit to:

  • Ezine Editors
  • Announcement lists
  • Article Directories

You’ve probably already heard about article directories, but what is the deal with ezine editors and announcement lists?

Article Submission Sites: A Few Things About Ezines…

=> Ezine Editors publish newsletters that include free reprint articles.

=> Ezines are emailed directly to someone who has requested to receive information from this publisher, so the communication is welcomed by the reader.

=> Ezines are usually “highly targeted”, which means that only a person with interest in the specific subject matter covered in the ezine will subscribe.

If the ezine is about fishing, then the subscriber is very interested in fishing. If there is a good free reprint article published in the ezine about fishing, there is a good chance that the reader would be interested in seeing more information on this topic at the author’s website. So, because of the highly targeted audience, there is an increased likelihood of readers clicking the link in your resource box that leads to your website.

=> There is usually a relationship of trust between the ezine owner and his subscribers.

The subscribers have said “Yes, I will give you my name and my email address, and you may send me information that you think I would be interested in. I trust you to choose appropriate information that will add value to my life.” This relationship of trust really helps in the online world. It’s almost as if this ezine publisher has said to his reader, “I’d like to introduce you to a friend of mine. I like what he has to say, and I think that you will also.”

=> Your article is seen by many people within a short period of time, which can result in a sudden and dramatic upsurge in visitors to your website.

Ezines will vary in their readership numbers. Some have a few hundred readers, while others have tens of thousands of subscribers. Even if an ezine has just a few hundred readers–that can send you a good jolt of traffic your way. Imagine if your article was sent to 50,000 targeted readers–that could make a dramatic impact on your website, couldn’t it!

So, it is a good thing to submit your article to ezine editors.

How do you go about doing that?

It takes a bit of work:

You need to find ezine editors who are looking for articles in your niche. Check with them to be sure that they accept articles on your specific topic. You also need to be sure that they are accepting submissions. This is an ongoing process that needs to be done each month.

  1. Links to good web sites are always useful. Words that run together, bad grammar make me laugh, but don’t add to the author’s credibility.

I’ve submitted articles manually and thru article submission services. Submitting manually is no picnic! Since mMy previous submission services is no longer in business, now I’m looking for a new service. Any referrals that don’t cost a fortune?

    Hi Gerri,

Yes, I highly recommend This is my service–please let me know if you have any questions.

  4. Using the manual submission route I was always concerned that my links will be counted only once so not of any great value in terms of link building but now in your article you highlight the fact that good content, which get published by highly targeted ezines and web sites brings you traffic directly. So this is something important to consider, and not be too focused on the SEO aspect only. Good article. Thank you.

    Hi La Digue,

There is a benefit from getting traffic directly from your articles, but in my opinion the biggest benefit is from an improved search engine ranking. By steadily working to improve your search engine ranking, you can see a dramatic difference in your website traffic over the long term.

If you are submitting manually, you will need to submit a bunch of articles each month in order to see an impact. If you submit automatically, however, you can see excellent results with just 8 articles a month. Of course for each of these methods, you would be submitting articles over the long term.

  6. I just stumbled upon your post and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed reading your posts. Thank you for this great information, you write very well.
