Facing Your Article Marketing Fears: 5 Common Fears [And How To Conquer Them!]
Published By Google+

Facing your fearsWhenever we’re considering doing something new, be it moving, changing jobs, or  learning how to dance, there is a certain element of fear that accompanies the desire to do the new thing. Sometimes our desire to do the new thing overcomes our fear, but other times we may need some help in getting past those initial obstacles.

It works that way with doing article marketing, too. Writing and submitting articles requires learning a series of new skills, and you may be wondering if you have what it takes to enter this field of online marketing. That’s totally natural–I have known very accomplished people who had great writing skills who were nervous at the thought of writing articles that would be published on the internet.

Writing and submitting articles is most likely not near as hard as you imagine–this is a very popular method for online marketing and most people can learn how to do it with a little instruction (which I’m happy to provide).

If you’re having similar fears, then let’s get them out in the open so that we can address them. Here are 5 common fears that people have when they’re considering starting to market their website with articles:

Fear #1: I don’t know how to write an article.

I know how you feel–when I started writing free reprint articles, the last time I had written anything was when I was in school. In my adult life, I didn’t have much occasion to write anything I would call an article–emails yes, but articles no.

I would advise you to do what I did–get the lay of the land. Look at a few articles to see how they’re structured, and that will go a long way towards alleviating some of your fears. You should also take a look at this resource that details the different parts of a free reprint article. Once you break the article down into parts, it gets easier to imagine yourself actually writing one.

Also, take your time on your first articles. It may take a few days for you to write your first articles. That is normal–you’re doing something you’ve never done before, so it’s going to take longer. Be patient with yourself.

Fear #2: I don’t know what to write about.

Does your mind draw a blank when you try to think of something to write about? Here are a few hints:

  • Whatever the general topic of your website is, that will be the general topic of your articles. For example, if you’re a business coach, your articles will teach the same sorts of things you teach to your clients about how to create a profitable business. If you’re a dentist, then your articles will be about oral health care.
  • Write articles that teach readers how to do something specific. Thinks of your articles as being tutorials, rather than excerpts from an encyclopedia.
  • Use a numbered list in your article. Not only is it okay to do that, but it’s highly desirable. Readers find it easier to scan content that contains a list, and articles with lists are also easier to write. Remember, your article still needs to have an introductory and concluding paragraph–it can’t just be a numbered list.

Fear #3:Â I don’t know technical stuff about search engine optimization.

That’s totally fine! To get started writing articles, you really don’t need to know all the ins and outs about how Google and the internet work. You’ll accumulate more knowledge over time, but the first step is simply to write an article and submit it. You don’t need to start out with total knowledge–that would be rather like saying you couldn’t ride a bike because you didn’t know how to put one together.

Fear #4: Would anyone really want to read or publish my articles?

It’s easy to get self-conscious about your writing. You imagine that the other people who are writing articles are so much more gifted or advanced and that readers are like literary critics. It’s actually not like that–you would be surprised at the need for just basic quality content on the internet. Readers want one thing–to have their questions answered clearly. Publishers want one thing too–they want content that serves their readers. If you write articles that provide basic, practical information in a clearly presented way, then you will be very popular with publishers and readers alike!

Fear #5: I don’t have time to write articles on a consistent basis.

It’s hard to go from writing nothing to writing finished articles every week, so don’t put that impossible pressure on yourself. Give yourself time to work up to writing 8 articles a month and submitting them via It may take a few months to get the hang of things, but be patient with yourself.

If you’re really pressed for time, we also offer article writing services for’s Gold+ Level Members (just let me know if you would like information on that, as it’s currently an under-the-hood, unadvertised service, but one that several members now take advantage of).

And coming very soon is our new service at, offering quality content writing services. We’re still testing everything out and recruiting high-calibre writers … you can sign up for early notification as soon as we launch.

Your Homework:

Fear is a very destructive, draining emotion that can keep us from doing things that we really want to do. The longer that you give into the fear, the more powerful it gets–Facing a fear diffuses its power!

  • This week, identify what it is that is preventing you from getting started writing free reprint articles. Â What are you afraid of? Is it something that we’ve covered in this post, or is it something else? If it is something else, please let me know as I’d love to help you address it and move forward.
