Let’s Brainstorm: Do you need help coming up with writing topics?

14

Time to put on your thinking cap...

One thing that I’ve realized with the comments on this blog is that when you have a community of people asking great questions and sharing their honest advice, it is energizing and helps stimulate creativity.

I can’t tell you how many articles I’ve written as a result of interactions with readers and customers. I would say almost all of my articles emerge from those types of personal one-on-one interactions.

When you know you are truly addressing a real person’s question, it makes it easier to write the article itself. I kind of feel like I’m sitting across the table from the person who I’m writing for, and I want to be extra sure that he is understanding and following all the information that I’m trying to teach him.

That is kind of how the idea for this post emerged…

Two Heads Are Better Than One

It is easier to come up with writing ideas when you are collaborating with objective folks who see your topic with a fresh eye.

I get that benefit through this blog and through working with the customers who subscribe to my article submitter, but maybe we could all help each other in this respect as well.

I have no idea how this is going to go–this may be a bit of a free for all, but here goes…

Part 1:

Would you like some help coming up with article ideas generated from actual living people (meaning those of us who are participating on this blog)?

If so, leave a comment telling what your topic is (your general niche) and ask the group for help in coming up with some fresh ideas. Remember, your article topics should be along the same lines as the general topic of your website.

Part 2:

If you are to receive help, it is fair play to be willing to help others, right?

Look through other people’s comments and put on your thinking cap to help a few others think of some fresh article ideas.

When you find one that inspires you with a few good ideas, click the “Reply” link to the upper right of the person’s comment. That will make it so that your comment is identified as responding to a specific person.

We’ll see how this goes…

Let’s see if we can help some people come up with this month’s articles!

I think this is a great plan. I write on the subject of autism. I do need fresh ideas, and with school starting this fall, there are many topics, ideas, but I am concerned with the subjects. It is not only about starting school, but other conerns that parent(s), caregiver(s) have for their autistic children.

If anyone has some suggestions that are fresh and unique, let me know, because I sure need some.

Thank you

Bonita

Hi,
The area that I will be writing about is on solar panels, particular for home and recreational use. There is a lot of information on this topic, but I will want to be writing some very unique articles about solar power that will make the article very enticing.
thanks
John

This is something that I could use help on because it’s been bugging me for ages. If there’s a “thinking cap out” there that can come up with a solution then I will be just so chuffed.

We’ve created a website that creates a website. It’s easy to do – as easy as creating a Microsoft word document. It’s affordable – we only charge £179.88 including VAT for 1,000’s of images and 100’s of pages and it’s also compatible with YouTube videos, Google analytics, etc.The price includes secure hosting, the content management system, search engine optimised sites and free updates.

UNIQUELY, the system can be resold and businesses such as print companies are utilising the system which is BRANDED as their own. Our reseller clients are also able to create and update their websites. But, its the reseller’s decision as to how they would like to manage their clients.

In a nutshell, a high impact website that creates websites – an an affordable price – which can be resold.

Can’t wait for any suggestions because I feel an article coming on …….

Hey thanks for this interesting post.

I know for sure that writing ideas can easily be generated from the simple things you do daily, and what you see around you everyday. Ideas can spring from taking a walk, taking a vacation, looking at advertisements, surfing the web, reading your favourite book, … just name it.

I’m one of those passionate about helping people feed their Muse to fattening and generating endless writing ideas. That’s what I do on my blog, and I hope it helps feed your creative Muse to fattening too.

IMHO…great idea! I’d like to be part of the brainstorming collaboration. I’m most interested (for fairly transparent reasons) in the kinds of questions potential new subscribers most want answered about my particular niche. List members are hopefully won’t be bashful about asking/commenting, once they’re aboard. But the real key lies in new subscribers & what might leverage them into joining is content relevant as they are inclined to define it.

My own niche is online dating, specifically for women. I’d be most interested in knowing what puzzles them and what they would most like to know from the other side of the gender line.

I’d love to hear others’ topics and would be happy to feed back with questions I might have on their own niche…

Best Wishes,

Dirk

I would like to know if you have any questions about coffee making equipment for the home or for commercial purposes (coffee makers, coffee brewers, espresso machines and grinders. Also, are you interested in commercial hot powdered beverage dispensers or in electric tea kettles, iced tea makers for home or commercial use? And any question about Lavazza coffee. Let me know.

My problem is that the company I work for wants me to keep my articles around email marketing. It limits my creativity. I have already written over 60 articles, including blogs on the subject.

Does any other writer have that problem out there?

Hi Steve,
This sound interesting. I’m particularly into the “Marriage” niche (straight marriage)hence anyone who’s got relevant issues worth developing an article on could simply drop me a line. This can get my writing juice flowing again!
Thanks in anticipation.

I try to write articles about cats since my site is a retail site for all things cat. I offer cat furniture such as cat trees or cat condos, scratching posts, cat beds, cat pet doors, outdoor cat houses, outdoor cat kennels, etc. I need to know what cat owners want to hear about and will appreciate all suggestions.

Hello Steve, What a great idea. I am finding that team work on the internet is great. This company I am with is a lead generation company. I am always needing ideas on articles. Thanks, Andrew Gallop

This seems like a great idea but my niche is small that no-one seems to have blogs on microphones. I guess I’ll keep on searching!

I want to write articles, but I’m not sure when that will happen yet.
I’m a distributor for Shaklee products, so I though I could write about
the products some how.

@John Chartrand

:Hi John, for years I have developed eco-resorts in Thailand and people are always suggesting solar panels. But they’re very expensive and there is not a lot of support if they break down in any way. An interesting article would look around the world at which governments do and do not support solar energy (eg, with subsidies and other incentives) and what the real break-even cost is.

I have spent 30 years in nature tourism and developing nature resorts, now often called eco-resorts, mostly in Thailand and SE Asia. This includes remote island beaches and tree houses in the rain forest. I can narrate my experiences and advise on non-touristic adventures in these parts and I am particularly interested in sharing my experience and lessons learned as an eco-developer. Anybody out there want to ask about some specific topics in this general field?
