We’ve established that first off, you need to have a really great basic text resource box.

Once you have a strong text resource box, you can create an HTML resource box that is just as effective pretty easily.

But what about customizing your resource box?

If your article is what lures reader’s in, why not capitalize on the momentum you create in your article and tailor your resource box to perfectly suit the subject matter you’ve just been sharing with the reader?

Customizing your resource box is the final stage of Resource Box Evolution.

The trick is to create a bridge between your article (which is educational) and your resource box (which has some info about yourself, your website, and a call to action to visit your website).

Let’s take a look how it’s done…

Step 1. Create strong basic resource box that you can customize in each article. Here’s mine

Steve Shaw created the web’s first ever 100% automated article distribution service, SubmitYOURArticle.com, which distributes your articles to hundreds of targeted online publishers with the click of a button. Get the full story and reap the rewards TODAY at=> http://www.SubmitYOURArticle.com

Notice that I included my full name, a little author bio info letting the reader know what makes me an expert on this topic, and then a call to action with a link to my website. Those are the basics–now we can take things up a notch or two.

Step 2. In the article give educational material about your area of expertise to your target market.

Let me just share with you a recent article of mine called Article Marketing: How Small Business Owners Drive Traffic To their Websites

My audience is small business owners, specifically those who wish to drive traffic to their websites. The article is telling small business owners 3 reasons why article marketing is so effective at driving traffic to a website.

You want to do something similar with your own articles–write for your target audience and give specific information about your niche that your target market would find helpful.

Step 3. In the first part of the resource box, you want to transition from the article into why it’s beneficial for your target market to use your service or buy your product.

For instance in my article I shared with you above, my target market was small business owners, and in the article I was instructing them on how to drive traffic to their websites (and of course they would do that with article marketing :-) ).

Now, for my resource box I have to transition from telling small biz owners about article marketing to peaking their interest in my business SubmitYOURArticle.com, which is an automatic article submission service.

Once I have made my case for using article marketing as an excellent means for driving traffic to a website, I need to tell the interested reader why it’s beneficial to use my service in particular for their article marketing needs.

So, this is what I said:

Small business owners who want to save time and increase their article exposure submit their articles automatically for maximum impact and results. Steve Shaw created the web’s first ever 100% automated article distribution service, SubmitYOURArticle.com, which distributes your articles to hundreds of targeted online publishers with the click of a button. Do you see the steps here?

  • In the article I give educational material about my topic (article marketing).
  • In the first part of the resource box I neatly transition from the article into why it’s beneficial for small business owners to use an automatic article distribution service (you would do this to save time and increase the exposure of your articles, which would in turn maximize results).
  • Once I’ve broached the idea of using an automatic article distribution service, I tell them about my own service and what the service delivers.

That is a customized resource box–the content in the resource box is clearly associated with the specific topic of the article.

Another example–Here’s my article 7 Habits For Highly Effective Article Marketing

Obviously in the article I’m going over 7 habits folks should shoot for.

In my resource box I continue the idea of “effective habits” by saying this:

Another habit effective article marketers have is that they submit their articles automatically, saving time and increasing their article exposure. Steve Shaw created the web’s first ever 100% automated article distribution service, SubmitYOURArticle.com, which distributes your articles to hundreds of targeted online publishers with the click of a button. So, you can see that the resource box appears to be a continuation of the article.

That is the idea when you’re making a customized resource box–it should be like the resource box is a continuation of the article with some sort of obvious link to one another.

It’s actually kind of fun once you get started doing it. The first time or so it may feel a bit awkward to try to continue the article into the resource box, but once you get used to it it’ll get easier, and you’ll see that your article-resource box combo is much more dynamic when it looks like the two actually belong together!

How about you? Any special tricks for customizing your resource boxes–please share!
