How To Submit Articles: 10 Simple Ways to Become a Better Writer
Published By Google+

When you first start to write articles for article marketing, you can be very aware of how much you have to learn and how far you can come as a writer.

Usually, through writing articles on a consistent basis you will naturally improve. It can help to have some goals to shoot for though.

Here are 10 easy ways to improve your writing, no matter how long you’ve been submitting articles.

1 – Do a writing warm-up.

It’s amazing the difference this can make. Here’s a tutorial on how I do mine:

2- Write a first draft, second draft, and final draft, taking a day’s rest in between.

When you try to crank out an article in one shot, there’s a good chance that it will not be as logically organized as it would be otherwise. Also, rushing to get an article out will often lead to silly grammar and spelling errors. Becoming a better writer can be as simple as taking some extra time to produce a quality article!

3 – Focus on your audience.

  • What do they need?
  • What sort of information will be helpful to them?
  • What problems or questions do they have?

Sometimes when you’re writing articles for article marketing you can get so focused on the benefit that you receive that you forget about your readers. When that happens, your writing will suffer. To get back on track, just get back to basics–write articles focused on the needs of your readers.

4- Learn to write better titles.

Or even easier, use Ezine Articles’ title suggestion tool. It’s free, and the titles that they offer have been keyword optimized and are written by professional writers. When I use this tool, I usually tweak the title a bit to fit my specific goals. You can do that or use the title that they give you verbatim.

5 – Be economical in your word choices.

This means saying exactly what you want to say in the fewest words possible.

6 – Make your topic interesting.

Some topics are more challenging to write about than others, but no matter what your topic is, your goal is to write about it in such a way that it becomes interesting.

Here are some tips on how to accomplish this:

7 – Develop your own writing style.

Your articles don’t need to look and sound like everyone else in your niche–you have a different way of thinking and teaching information, and your goal is to develop your natural uniqueness in your writing style.

8 – Become a better teacher.

When you’re writing free reprint articles, your role is that of teacher. The success of your article is largely influenced by how well your article conveys it’s educational message. You can experiment with different ways of teaching your information. Get creative–take some chances!

Some of my best content has been the result of experimentation with teaching methods. For example, when I wrote this blog post that answered the question What Are Links and How Do You Get Them? , I was trying to teach a technical subject in a way that a not so technically minded person could understand.

I tried to do that with word pictures.

Here’s another teaching experiment (similar topic taught in a different way):

9 – Write in plain English.

Keep your wording simple, easy to understand and free of industry jargon. Newspapers are usually written on a grade school reading level (anywhere from 3rd grade to 8th for most papers). Even though your language and your readers’ vocabulary is more advanced than a 3rd grader, writing in very basic English helps your readers to understand what you’re saying at a glance.

10 – Keep paragraphs on the short side and use bullet points and numbered lists.

Online readers are more attracted to articles that are easy to read. They don’t want to labor though huge paragraphs where they need to be at full attention the whole way through.

In order to be a better writer for the web, you need to take that into consideration. It’s easy enough to do–just keep your paragraphs short.

Also, try to work in bullet points and numbered lists any time you can. Readers are attracted to articles that have bullet points and numbered lists, because it makes the article easier to read.

How to Incorporate Bullet Points In Your Online Article Submission

Sometimes it doesn’t take a lot of time to make simple but effective improvements to your writing. Most of these tips here aren’t really about trying harder–they’re just about doing things in a way that you might not have thought of before.

Which of these tips will you try?

    Hi Steve

I have never been a believer of cranking out 3 or 4 articles a day. Because the first draft is rarely the best.

I recently wrote a article. That I edited 50 Times. Over 3 or 4 days.

As far as I’m concerned. If I don’t like what I’ve written. Then neither will my target audience.
