HowTo Drive Traffic To Your Brand Spankin’ New Website

Originally uploaded by CWieme

You’ve got a website, and it is not doing as well as you’d hoped.

You started it a couple days ago, a couple weeks ago, a couple months ago, or even a couple years ago–and your traffic stats are looking like a flat line on a graph.

You thought that having a website would be an “if I build it, they will come” situation, like in the movie Field Of Dreams where people just showed up out of nowhere. But driving traffic to your newborn website is harder than you thought it would be.

I think we’ve all been there :-) . We’ve all experienced the joy of “birthing” a new website, marveling at the beautiful design and reading over and over our eloquent, clever, warm and insightful content. When we launch a new website it’s a labor of love, and we have to nurture the site along so that it can move from crawling, to walking, and finally to running at a full on sprint!

But how? When you’re staring at your website not knowing what in the world to do to get the ignition started, where do you begin?

I was looking at Paul Easton’s site the other day, and noticed that he shared a screen shot of his traffic stats for a new blog that he was starting. At the time he reported the stats, his blog was only 3 months old, and it was already receiving over 1,000 real visitors, all from search engine traffic.

Three months old and getting 1,000 search visitors a day? That’s really good–I’d be jumping up and down if that was me :-) But how did he do it?

Guess what “secret weapon” Paul used to drive traffic to his shiny new website? Paul says:

“The process I used is something that anybody can do:

Article Marketing- But done on Steroids!

See I am not the patient type, I to get things moving quickly. And for article marketing to work, you have to make the articles do the work- not you!

That’s where my favorite tool comes in:

SubmitYOURArticle.com — It’s TradeMarked Article Leverage system is exactly what I used to get the traffic above. I also use it for my clients, for high priced article marketing campaigns.”

Aha! That’s so nice to hear :-) . Sometimes when we’re trying to drive traffic to our websites we think we need to find the newest, hottest marketing method, but time and time again the good old stand by–Article Marketing– saves the day.

If you have a brand new website that you’re launching (or even if you have an older website that still isn’t getting the traffic you’d like), follow these steps to use Article Marketing to drive traffic to it (and bear with me, these steps are almost embarrassingly simple):

1) I would submit between 1 and 8 articles a month. In order to have the maximum impact with your articles, I suggest that you stagger your article submissions. I suggest no more than 2 per week submitted on different days.

Why, you ask? The reason why is that many of the article distribution sites have standards and rules about how frequently they like to receive submissions. Many don’t like multiple article submissions by the same author within a short time period, and if you submit more than one or two a week it actually reduces your chances of your article being picked up for publication.

So, you want to be consistent about your article submissions, but don’t go overboard.

2) Use ArticleLeverage. In case you didn’t know, ArticleLeverage is a special, optional (and free) tool that we offer to all of our members at SubmitYOURArticle.com. In a nutshell, ArticleLeverage allows the author to create variations to parts of their article. The number of variations that the author can create are limitless–you can totally go wild with it! By creating article variations, you can submit different versions of your article (each having the same high quality as the original article) to our distribution network.

For more info on how ArticleLeverage works, check out this post (and take a look at the comments too!).

*Sidenote– I just wanted to say that of course using ArticleLeverage is completely optional. If you’d like to submit articles without creating variations you can do that too. But, if you want to try using ArticleLeverage out, I encourage you to go for it, as it’s a free tool that we offer to our members at SubmitYOURArticle.com.

3) Manage your expectations wisely. Now we saw that Paul saw results in as little as 3 months, and that’s about right on the time frame. I just wanted to be sure that you realize that it will take months–not a few days, not a few weeks, but a few months–before you’ll likely see results. While results certainly can be dramatic – for example, publication in a major ezine can bring a surge of traffic over a few days – article submissions are generally a long-term strategy for building up the traffic to your web site.

Why does it take months to build traffic? Search engines like Google can take months to adjust search engine ranking based on incoming links – an increased search engine ranking for your major keywords can of course build traffic dramatically for the long-term.

And that’s it–pretty simple, eh? That’s all there is to it, and I’m telling you–anyone can do this. You can do this. You don’t have to be an internet mastermind to build traffic to your website. Just do these 3 easy steps, be consistent, write quality articles, and then give Google time to do its thing.

Oh, and if you aren’t a member yet and you’d like to submit articles through SubmitYOURArticle.com, you’re welcome to sign up here. We’d be happy to welcome you on board :-)

All of this is so true. I have had my business on the internet for over 10 years. It was not until I started writing and submitting unique articles on a consistent basis that I started getting traffic that I didn’t have to pay for.

Once you commit to building a website you MUST continue (consistently) to market and the BEST way by far is article marketing. It’s free and evergreen meaning your articles circulate the internet for years.

Hi Steve,

You are absolutely right, article submission is one of the most potent traffic generator and everyone should include them in their arsenal.

However, if you want a faster result, ppc is it although it will surely involve your wallet.

Thanks for this eyeopener.

Article Marketing has had a profound effect on my business and I fully agree with the author. The only way that clients/customers know that you or your products are worth your salt is to see the depth and height of your belief in what you are presenting. Before I started writing articles, traffic was slow and unpredictable now I can gauge my traffic based on the article production. Good insight keep it up until all internet entrepreneurs hear you.

I have seen a significant change to my website and blog since I started article marketing a few months ago. This is the only way to attract visitors to your website especially if articles are of good quality.
Thanks for your advice on how to stagger article submission. It is well appreciated!

Kind regards
