Marketing with Articles: Creating a Website and Marketing Campaign that Works with Google
Published By Google+

It's essential to work with Google when building and marketing your website...

It’s important to learn how to work with Google to bring the power of this mighty search engine on your side to your strong and lasting advantage.

Last time we said that your website is like a vacation resort and Google is like a travel agency.

Although you can get great help in getting people to your resort if travel agencies are referring customers right and left, you still build your resort (your website) to satisfy the needs of your customers first and foremost.

You would not devise a plan to send a false impression to travel agencies in order to get them to refer (for a time) their customers to your resort only to then have those customers complain that your resort was not what it was marketed to be.

Here are two of the most important things that you can do to bring long-term success for your business:

  1. Create a website that is full of valuable content. You please your visitors and search engines like Google will be pleased as a natural result. They are simply looking for quality websites that contain valuable content, because that is how they please their visitors and provide their own value.
  2. Then, you need to get the word out about your website by marketing it. Just as a brick and mortar business uses marketing to attract the attention of potential customers, so you need to do the same with your website.

Links are the primary measurement tool many search engines use, most importantly Google, to measure how much value you offer your visitors.

You and Google are in the same game here, each trying to maximize value to your visitors. There’s nothing sneaky or complicated about it. By providing value to your visitors, Google and others will come to recognize the value of your site and reward you accordingly.

The search engines should be regarded as our allies which we can use to our strong advantage (just like a travel agency can be the ally of a vacation resort). They are not enemies who we’re trying to trick, deceive and keep one step ahead of. That approach is a losing battle and not a wise one to wage.

Links are used to establish your site’s value and ranking. You impact where your site is ranked by the quality of content you provide and the depth and consistency of your marketing and link building efforts.

Alright, so once you have developed a valuable website that has content that your readers can use, what’s the next step? What is the most effective way to market your website on the internet?

Article marketing is an extremely effective tool for:

  1. Building links to your website.
  2. Getting the word out about your website, bringing widespread exposure and an increase in targeted traffic.
  3. Establishing yourself as an expert in your niche and building customer confidence.

The articles created in article marketing are called ‘free reprint articles’. They are free to publishers, but authors get the above benefits. Those benefits listed above act as a ‘payment’ for the time the author has taken to write and distribute the article.

Here’s how that works:

  • Each time an author submits an article, he includes a resource box at the end of the article. A resource box is a short author ‘bio’, which also includes an all-important link back to the author’s website.
  • Every time a publisher decides to publish a free reprint article, he is required to include this link back to the author’s website.

In this way, the author builds links and increases exposure for his website. The people clicking the link to his website will be doing so because they found his article helpful, and since his article is on the same topic of his website, the article generates what we call ‘targeted traffic’.

Targeted traffic means that the people who are viewing the website are interested in the topic of the website.

Not just that, but the traffic is already ‘warm’ – by reading the article containing valuable information for the reader, the reader has already started in some way to ‘trust’ the author and build up a relationship with him or her and will be far more receptive to any marketing materials on the website in question.

This Week’s Homework:

  • Write quality articles on the topic of your website.
  • Craft a strong resource box to lure readers back to your website.
  • Submit your articles to article directories and other online publishers.
  • Reach a few publishers by submitting your articles manually, or reach hundreds if not thousands by enlisting the help of a high quality article submission service, such as SubmitYOURArticle.com.
