Productivity for Writers: Writing Articles in Preparation for a Vacation
Published By Google+

The holidays are coming up, and I’m sure that a lot of you will be getting much busier and maybe even taking a little time off.

When that happens, your article submissions don’t have to come to a screeching halt. With a little foresight, you can do a little extra work now so that when the busier time of year comes, you can relax and enjoy yourself knowing that your work is already taken care of.

I actually have such a time in mind for myself coming up in a month or two. My goal is to have all of my articles pre-written and scheduled to be distributed while I’m on vacation. So, over the next month or so I’ll actually be writing twice as many articles.

If you are in the habit of writing articles on a regular basis, you know that doubling your output isn’t easy. How in the world can someone practically do this without driving themselves crazy?

There are two methods that I’ve found to work best. They are:

  • Write a list article with 7-10 list items, and then take each list item and elaborate on it in a new article. So, that first article gets the ball rolling, and then you have 7-10 additional articles that bounce off that original article in different directions.
  • The second idea is to think of a big topic under your niche and set about covering every aspect of that topic over the course of 7-10 articles.

Why not just write in your normal way, taking each article one at a time?

You could of course do that, but I have the feeling it would be more laborious than it needs to be. It’s not always easy to think of article topics, especially under pressure and with a time constraint. It’s not that big a deal if you’re just writing 8 articles a month, but if you’re trying to pre-write articles before taking a month or so off from writing, it may be rather tough taking it one article at a time.

So, that’s why I like to take the “one big inspiration” approach and generate several articles from one big idea. That way you basically think of one article topic (albeit a big one), and you can work off that for a lot of articles.

I’m still thinking of what topic I’ll cover, and I have a few ideas but wanted to ask for your input, if you have any.

What big teaching topic having to do with article marketing would you like to see me cover over the course of several articles and blog posts? I appreciate your input!

Also, let me know if you have any special strategy for writing extra articles in preparation for taking time away from writing. What do you do?
