Wondering where to submit your articles?

Wondering where to submit your articles?

Alright, so you’ve learned the immense marketing potential of your website, a basic guide to Article Marketing (and that it is completely within your grasp to do it), and also how to write a free reprint article. Now the obvious question is:

“What are the places to submit articles?”

Glad you asked–there are basically 3 main types of publishers where  you can submit your articles:

1) Ezine Editors

2) Article Announcement Lists

3) Article Directories

I’ve assembled some resources on each of these different types of publishers, so let’s get started:

Ezine Editors

Here’s what to look for when searching for a suitable Ezine Editor to submit your article to:

  • The publisher must be looking for articles in your category (on your topic)
  • The publisher must accept article submissions.

It is possible to compile a list of ezine editors, but I have to warn you that it takes considerable time and upkeep. You need to scour the internet for editors in your niche and also those who are accepting articles and then keep that list updated, continuing to check with them that they still accept article submissions. As you’re doing this, you’ll discover that just because they accepted articles at one time doesn’t mean that they always accept them. Sometimes ezines on your list may be discontinued for whatever reason or they may quit accepting article submissions.

I know this sort of list building takes time (remember, I do this for a living!), and you are itching to get started, so I’ve created a page that lists several dozen ezine directories to give you a head start.

Announcement Lists

Marching forward into the land of announcement lists–what is an announcement list?

An article announcement list is a type of mailing list that concentrates on article submissions. The subscribers of the mailing list are either publishers looking for content, providers of that content (i.e. article writers such as yourself), or possibly both.

Every article you submit to these lists get sent to all of the subscribers of that list – by submitting to multiple lists, you’re effectively sending out your article to thousands of potential publishers.

How many publishers can an announcement list reach?

You can contact hundreds, if not thousands, of potential publishers through article announcement lists.

What’s involved in submitting to announcement lists?

Before you can submit any articles to an announcement list, you firstly need to subscribe to each one.

And note that as a subscriber, you will receive article submissions from all the other subscribers, which means you should be prepared for a significant amount of email. For this reason, it’s often wise to subscribe using a completely separate email address to your usual email account.

(Just as a side note–this influx of email to your inbox is only if you are managing your own submissions. If you are using SubmitYOURArticle.com, then we arrange it so you get the benefit of submitting to announcement lists, but so that you aren’t receiving the loads of emails from the announcement lists.)

Where do you find these lists?

Again, I know you’re just getting started, so I’ve compiled a list of several article announcement lists to get you started.

Article Directories

Article directories offer numerous perks to authors:

  • Once submitted, your articles are published almost instantaneously. (Of course for many quality publishers, it takes 2-3 days for them to review your article to be sure it’s up to scratch, but after that it is immediately published on the directory.)
  • Every time your article is published on an article directory, so is your resource box along with a link to your website. This link to your website is helpful in attaining a higher search engine ranking (in everyday language–that means that you can get more visitors being sent to your website)
  • Your articles are published on the internet, so that means that anyone can see your article and get use from it (and also click the link going to your website)
  • Your articles can be indexed by search engines such as Google, and so your articles become a means of directing visitors to your site.
  • When you publish your article on an article directory, it is available to be republished by any website owner who finds your content useful. This ability to be republished is a driving force behind the power of article marketing. The more publishers who have put your article on their website, the more opportunities you have to bring targeted visitors to your site.

To help get you started, here’s a list of a few popular article directories.

Is there an “Easy Button” for this process?

Yes, there is an easier way to submit articles...

Yes, there is an easier way to submit articles...

Remember how I told you that article marketing is very user friendly and anyone can do it?

Well, it very well could be that about right now you’re thinking the article writing in itself sounded doable but that the submission process is sounding like a bit of a headache.

Don’t fret–I’ve been there. Long ago I was exactly where you are and found the submission process to be ridiculously (and unnecessarily) time consuming. I was determined to simplify the process, so I used my skills as a computer programmer to create a solution for myself.

I created an automated article submission system, just for myself to use mind you. It worked wonderfully and saved me so much time! It worked so well in fact that I eventually decided to turn my creation into an online service called SubmitYOURArticle.com. The rest is history!

If you’d like to hear more about the story of how I created SubmitYOURArticle.com, then feel free to check it out here.

Of course you can still see some results by submitting your articles manually–this is how I got started!

But if there ever comes a time when you’d like to reach a large quantity of high quality publishers at the click of a button, then please let me know if I can be of service to you.

You have all the info you need to get started…

Whether you choose to submit manually or automatically, you now have all the info you need to move forward.

I encourage you to focus on the basics as you’re just getting started, and don’t let yourself become overwhelmed with the plethora of advanced information that is available surrounding article marketing.

Just write thoughtful articles that will be of use to your target market. Do this consistently every month. If you are using SubmitYOURArticle.com, I think that 8 articles a month is sufficient for one website.

Focus on getting into the habit of steadily writing articles every month and submitting them.

Next time we’ll contemplate the impact that marketing your website can have on your business.

Until then…

Was this helpful to you? Do you have enough information to move forward?
